One factor to consider is if the system is on recirc of inside air or if the system pulls in outside air.

Trying to cool hot outside air by 20°F could be more difficult than a gradually cooling of recirculating inside air. The outside air never gets cooler so the 20° delta stays the same. Dropping cooler inside air by 20° eventually gets much better.

you are stuck with Sue. She is the only parts distributor in the US.

go to lowes and get some silicone lubricant. Wet a paper towel with the lube and rub in it he seal. It may take a day or so for it become pliable enough but it will seal again provided the tension is strong enough.

you may need to pull the power half way thru a flush cycle to stop the flapper long enough to lube the seal.

The foam is likely to fill the hole between the bay bottom and what is passing through the hole. Openings have to be sealed of the bus bays become homes to all sorts of living things.

so the part arrives tomorrow, but when I got back to the RV today, I was trying the “unlock/lock” bay door button and now the bay door lock that wasn’t locking, is locking, but it’s not unlocking using the “unlock/lock” button in the bus.

Not it sure now if it would be a bad acuator or it’s something else.

    Hey Doug,

I copy that about the conversations. If You avoid making eye contact with them. They might not come over and ask You ” Who’s on the Bus ” Thinking there is a Star on board. Default short answer of Mine if I am in a hurry or dont feel like talking. Is ” Sorry , I am not aloud to tell You ” Just let their imagination run with it. And other times it depends on how they approach , I will give them the short story of how it is just an RV. Also have had several ask the question, ” What does a rig like that cost ” Gotta love a Prevost !

    BSafe,

    WOW

I guess I have been really luckly not really ever had any issues and I am always super aware that the truckers are working and I don’t ever slow them down. I fuel and I move on. But what are the odds two days in a row. Today outside Denver stop at a loves. pick a lane and pull up so others can do the same. after 20 minutes and no activity I aproach the truck and ask him if there is a problem. He starts yelling at me that he is one the phone with his company and I needed to wait. About 10 minutes later he fuels the tractor then the refer and then pulls up to the line goes inside and I fuel. I wait about 20 more minutes before this dead beat comes back out…… I was so pissed I was thinking tires… I was thinking about the 3 dozen of eggs I have then my 12 year old asks what I am going to do… I look at him and said “we going to wait patiently” and so we did… the best part was when he finally did leave he pulled over into a parking spot to eat or do whatever…Smoked past him and blew the horn… Then he appeared like he we was going to chase me….. Oh god what did I start here….got back on 70 and made our way to Colorado Springs. Lost about an hour but My son and I will be on our tour of the air force academy with a 4 star general and not spending the night in jail or worse.

I guess the moral of the story… don’t say anything as they likely won’t care and only make things worse. If I had my wife I would have disconnected the car and just switched lanes or parked the car in front of him and the bus behind and taken a nap…

    Jon….

I am literally pulling this out of my butt telling you what I would do and it may not be the best answer for your situation because I don’t know a lot of the necessary details.

I assume the leak is not a gusher, but is leaking enough to require you to top off the system periodically. First, I would get rid of the pressure in the system doing two things. First, remove (loosen) the cap on the surge tank. The pressure in the system will allow the boiling point to be higher than an unpressurized system but right now pressure is not your desire.

To keep the system cool so you do not need an eleated boiling point I would lock the fan clutch in low speed. Look at the relay functions on the diagram on the engine door and identify the low speed relay (#78???). Break off tab number 85 from the relay. That will lock the low speed fan on and unless you encounter hills it should keep your coolant temp low enough to limit the temp to the thermostat setting. You should see your runing temps cycle around 190 to 195.

Finally, when you get to a truck stop get some radiator stop leak and add it to the system.

If the leak is not too bad, and if you are vigilant you can get some miles under your belt to reach your destination and deal with the issue when you are not pressed for time. Pulling your radiator , getting it repaired or replaced and getting you back on the road is dependent upon the ability of the mechanic and the shop that can repair radiators and since a wedding is important it seems if I were in your position I would get to the wedding first, then risk dealing with a shop of unknown abilities.

If it is not a slow leak you have to be very cautious and maybe leave the bus somewhere safe. It has a low coolant sensor that will shut you down, literally. You do not want to experience a stop engine light unless you are in a place you can safely get off the road.

Agree absolutely that my pressures are for my axle weights. Just posted them to help show the variations in use.

Doing a little cleaning/exploring down in the bays today. I removed the plywood partions that are covering the

house and generator batteries. The good news is my gen battery is a lifeline GPL-1400T, the bad new is the sticker

is FK. Translation F = 6 and K = 11, which means June of 2011. My house batteries are 6 Lifeline GPL-4DL and

their stickers are A = 1 and M = 13, which equals January 2013. While checking the batteris with my temperature

gun, battery # 4 was 111 degrees on the top rear of the case and 90 degrees in the front. All the other batteries

were in the low 80 degree range all over. The rear top of the battery is much warmer to the touch than the rest.

The inverters are two Trace 4000, and are in float with a display voltage of 25.8 actual volts. Checked the torque

of the connections and all are good and tight.

Is this the indication of a bad cell? Is there anything I can or should do because of it?

I am going to ETLC for the seminar in October, if there isn’t a sale on Lifelines for attendees, maybe Buddy can

help me make a swap while Tom is teaching the class.
