Jon, I have looked it over. It looks like new.

Every evening I say “tomorrow I should have it ready to re-install” but then I think of something more to do while it out.

I’m replacing every rubber hose on the gen and in its compartment.

The radiator shop said the radiator needs re-coring due to internal corrosion.

Is there a reason the gen radiator needs the huge squirrel cage fan and electric motor? The only reason I can think of is they are trying to keep that radiator compartment as cool as possible so that as lttle heat as possible is transferred to the neighboring OTR evaparator compartment and on the other side the inverter compartment.

I’ve beening toying w/the idea of removing the huge fan and motor and installing a 12v thermostat controlled fan and shroud on the backside of the gen radiator. Thats what is on both my race cars and my 51 PU. I know it doesn’t take much to keep the gen radiator at 180, but if their trying to keep it “as cool as possible”, meaning well below 180,then I’ll stick to the huge stuff.

    Thoughts?

If you can, put the Mustang RV place on the map. When we stayed at Twin Fountains this spring their power voltage was terrible and several coaches wound up with major problems. The desk help was less than friendly when advised of the problem. Also it had turned into a permanent stay camp for many of the units.

This sounds like an outstanding event! As a Vet, I really appreciate your efforts in this event, especially the donations going to Wounded Warriors.

My thoughts were to attend the Feb. event since we’ll be in Florida during that time-frame, but maybe we can get down there for November, although I doubt we’ll have our coach by then.

Do you envision any major differences between the Nov. event vs. the Feb. event?

    Hello PC,

Hope all is well! Just wanted to take a minute to thank a few people Bill and I went to visit yesterday unannounced and were met with posititvity and support!

We traveled to the East Coast and stopped in at Donnie Myers, we were met by Donnie himself, he took time out of his busy day to meet with us. He introduced us to Floyd, and Im pretty sure Bill and I almost left in new coaches, it was close! Its unbelievable the wealth of knowledge these guys have.

We then stopped and visited Rick from Featherlite, who we had met previously. As always, Rick was a great help, he gave us great ideas, since he has organized rallies in the past. We really appreciate all of the help and suggestions, especially to make everyone’s experience that much better!

We then stopped in at Millenium to visit with Nelson, but he was on vacation. We were greeted by Joanne, who was absoulutely great! besides the fact that she has personally visited Carlisle in the past with the family muscle car, she was super excited about the Air and Coach Concours being wrapped up with a great auto enthusiast event and auction.

Anyway, just wanted to say Thank You to everyone, and for those we missed, we will be around in the near future to introduce ourselves. It truly is overwhelming how supportive and knowledgeable the Prevost Community is. No matter what coach you are traveling in, everyone should know that no matter who we visit, everyone has been exceptional, from the coach manufacturers to the owners themsevles!

    Cheers

    Tim and Bill

PS – I am living at Sun n Fun full time so if anyone is traveling through, and would like to see the facility, just give me a call. I would love to show you around.

One of the reasons Prevost expressed about PC when Tom and I started it was it gave them an opportunity to read their market and what folks felt and were saying about the product. Tom might be able to add to that or explain it better, but PC does provide insight into how we feel collectively about both the chassis and the conversion. Nobody is shy about complaining or praising on here.

When we started out and had not even reached a few hundred members we did not have much of a voice. We do now. We have members across the full spectrum of conversion owners. And it is obvious we have some strong feelings about some minor issues that really need to be addresssed.

I too want my mirrors fixed, a replacement door latch that won’t break, some compensation for the CAC fiasco, and I also would really like a shoulder harness.

Prevost has problems someone needs to address, and this CAC sale is a clear demonstration how someone at Prevost is completely out of touch with reality.

We searched for a late 90’s Liberty XLV two years ago. While we checked out the “usual” Prevosts for sale venues (PC for sale (this site), PrevostStuff.com, RV trader and a few others) I found a surprising number of Prevosts for sale on Craigslist.com. The one we bought I actually found on Craigslist.com and to the best of my knowledge it was not advertised anywhere else. Another Liberty we had interest in just before we bought our coach I also found on Craigslist. Given your location, I would search all the Craiglists in the southeastern US. I tried a couple of Craigslist search engines, but I discovered that they “missed” some of the coaches for sale.

I presume you’ve already discovered the difference between a 12 volt and 24 volt Liberty, what year Prevost switched the engines from 8V92s to Series 60’s, and what year Prevost switched to an independent front suspension.

    Good luck with your search.

Brian, I make stuff like that up all the time.

Actually you should benefit considerably because you are going to get to see and discuss a lot of things an owner should know such as air system maintenance. What we cover in class however might not be as beneficial to you as being able to see a whole lot of coaches in one spot and to talk to owners who are able to talk objectively about them. Sellers might tell you what they think you want to hear. Owners will tell you facts based on their experience.

I just registered for the seminar, so hopefully that means there was a slot left for me. I’ll be coming as the prospective buyer and hope to soak up as much knowledge from the gurus as possible. After reading Jon’s post about the value of the seminar to the propspective buyer, the timing of the seminar is perfect timing for me since I hope to be in a coach sometime towards the end of the year.

This is my personal opinion so it is not the final word on how we will discuss sensors at the seminar.

I will not teach someone how to jump them. Maybe I am sensitive to some of the posts and emails that have recently been seen in which a buyer has been taken advantage of by a less than honest seller. I am not saying seminar attendees are going to jumper a bad sensor and then sell their coach with that temporary fix in place, but based on the subtle ways I am recently seeing sellers deceive buyers I would rather see owners replace defective sensors than by-pass them.

Your problem is trying to run 4 AC all the time. Unless and until you learn how to keep the coach cool with fewer AC units running you will continue to trip breakers.

I like a cool coach and Tom will agree when I say that because he is always whining about how cold it is in my coach, but I rarely need more than 2 units.

One huge contributor to heat in a Liberty coach is their use of BLACK shades for the front windshield. When the sun is shining on them they act like solar panels and transmit a lot of heat into the coach. Mine are a light tan color and it makes a big difference. I also close the shades on the sunny side of the coach. Unless you have all LED lights having a lot of lights on adds 50 watts of heat per light and 30 lights not only wipes out the cooling effect of one entire air conditioner, it sucks a lot of battery power the inverter has to make up for as a charger, adding to the electrical load.

Watch the current draw of the water pump, the air compressor, the HW heater. All of those turn on and off on demand and if you are at the limit and one or two kick on at the same time the shore power breaker will trip. The starting current draw on an AC unit can be 30 amps.

If the flea market inverters were 12v I would buy one for a spare, but I think they’re 24v.

The definition of failure needs to be much more specific.

First, are you talking about no power getting to the 120VAC inverter circuits when not connected to shore power or with the generator running?

Or are you talking about the 120VAC inverter circuits are not getting power when connected to shore or generator power?

If connected to shore or generator power is the inverter functioning as a battery charger?

The questions above about verifying a CB has not tripped are valid.

Can’t help you on that coach, but when I purchased my 2000 in 2006, I was the 4th or 5th owner. All previous owners except the one immediately preceding me had died during their ownership of the coach. It’s been a great coach and I’m still sucking in air!
