CAC Sale At Prevost!
Posted by Karl on August 25, 2015 at 9:12 amAnd the big question to me is, What numb-nuts is going to order the OEM product when it costs $200 more and only has a 6 month warranty compared to the Duralight at 7 years, ALL ON THEIR SAME SALE FLYER!?

I am trying to figure out which one would fit my coach…..Am I reading this incorrectly ?
My vin is W1026377 so I should be looking for W6377 in MTH 45….is it in the list ?

Marius……….
Do you need one? The sandwiched CAC that was on your vintage coach almost never fails.
If you tested it according to the procedure and you verified is is leaking let the folks in the parts department sort out the numbers to determine the right one for your coach. All you need to provide them with is your VIN.

Karl,
Shouldn’t the better question be “why is Prevost installing as OEM equpment a CAC that has a known high failure rate compared to one they will not hesitate to supply across the counter as replacement?”
All you guys going to the Marathon rally in Canada should press the issue regarding charge air coolers, door latches and Ramco mirrors.

Jon,
Great idea… AL tell them Bill isn’t going to buy a new one until they fix all the stuff on Jon’s list plus I want a 3 point seat belt in both front seats.
You can pick out the color for me 🙂

One of the reasons Prevost expressed about PC when Tom and I started it was it gave them an opportunity to read their market and what folks felt and were saying about the product. Tom might be able to add to that or explain it better, but PC does provide insight into how we feel collectively about both the chassis and the conversion. Nobody is shy about complaining or praising on here.
When we started out and had not even reached a few hundred members we did not have much of a voice. We do now. We have members across the full spectrum of conversion owners. And it is obvious we have some strong feelings about some minor issues that really need to be addresssed.
I too want my mirrors fixed, a replacement door latch that won’t break, some compensation for the CAC fiasco, and I also would really like a shoulder harness.
Prevost has problems someone needs to address, and this CAC sale is a clear demonstration how someone at Prevost is completely out of touch with reality.

All valid points, Jon, but can we blame Prevost alone for this when even the converters accept it? My CAC was replaced by Liberty when I bought the coach and they, surely knowing better, used the OEM replacement.
I have actually had concerns about my door latch and they found nothing to be concerned about. The mirrors….well, mine shake, though I can’t tell how much is too much.
If the converters, the ones who send the money directly to Prevost, take a stand the problems will get fixed.

You can be assured that if Liberty, Marathon or any other converter started to convert on other shells it would get some attention very quickly.
It is unbilevable how long and how much push back it takes for some ot these companies to make changes.
When I was in the Honda atv, motorcycle and power equipment business back in the 80’s we were for years the number one or two atv dealer in the united states.
We had engineers from Japan come and visit our store and talk with us about what the market place wanted and what they could do. You would think being their largest dealer in the US would get some action, not, it took years to make them understand hunters and outdoors people didn’t want red atv and we didn’t want the tires to stick out past the fenders getting everyone covered in mud and water. Took years.
Took us forever in the sporting goods industry to convince Igloo to make some ot their products in OD green for the hunting market.
At the level of Prevost and Volvo change is going to be very tough.
My two cents worth.

I can see and understand how the converters not only have a strong voice in this, they have access to managers pretty high up the Prevost food chain. But I think Buddy has put his finger on part of the problem. All corporations are like an aircraft carrier in that they are hard to turn in a different direction. Ad Volvo in the discussion because they control the purse strings and the matter gets far worse because they don’t even know or care about the market. Only the bottom line.
The converters are on our side. Trust me. When Karl had his CAC changed the full impact of the CAC issue was not know. He had his coach before PC existed, and I don’t think we knew the total impact of the problem until we on PC started to talk about it on the forum. I’d almost bet Liberty was unaware the Duralite was vastly superior to the OEM CAC. We know that now, but di we then?
I think if we are to resolve some of these problems and Prevost chooses to be non responsive we as owners have to keep it in our discussions, but we also have to consider other options outside the box.
