Red Alabama yucky, thanks a lot Joe, that was me if it was north of Adairsville, Nancy’s feeling really sad now. I’ll try to keep her spirits up.

So I was headed south on I-75 yesterday about noon and passed 2 Prevost headed north (I was in the truck, not bus). Would have been just south of adairsville which is where I got on. One fancy Alabama red (yuck) and one tan.

did not get a good look as they popped up quick and some medium brush blocked my view of the toads. I thought it looked like our fearless leaders, although I have not seen Tom’s new last bus without rivets. Sounds like it was indeed?

i also passed a bright blue one also headed north about 30 minutes later. Anyone want to claim that one?

Understand, that is what i did for the lean I had. It turned out to be a fitting on top of the air tank going to a spring . Still would be nice to watch what so many enjoyed back in 2012 . Also I think his was a 96 or so and I thought mine being a 98 would be the same . Not so you say ? Thank you For the info Jon

    Buy 2 of these

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00206LZWY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and one relay that I will have to send you model number. I’m traveling and don’t have access to the info until next week. I can send a wiring diagram as well.

You should be able to reuse a metal box to mount everything in.

This will give you a 75amp rated transfer switch.

Art, I’ve been using the auto former for about 10 years. I had to send my first one back and have it reworked and while waiting on it I purchased the new one that will not only boost the power its also works as a surge protector. I carry the new one in the bus and the old one I keep where I store the coach. Have been very happy with them.

It sounds like the transmission is doing what it is supposed to do, which is to shift. The way you said you know it shifts is by watching the tach sounds like the shift at city speeds is not a harsh event. It might be as simple as the speed cited is at a shift point and if you lift from the gas pedal or step on the gas pedal at that point it is going to shift as it is supposed to do. You might be influenced by your experience with the 6 speed transmission in which the shifts are smooth and hard to perceive and the 5 speed tends to hold shifts until higher RPMs and is more noticeable. The 5 speed can have harsher shifts but it is a very robust transmission and when used in heavy emergency vehicles tends to bang from gear to gear.

Transynd costs an arm and a leg but the synthetic fluid is really good for the Allison transmissions so that is what I would use.

The five speed in the 1988 coach lacks the fluid level sensing so the correct amount is almost impossible to read on the dip stick. In fact it is so clear you tend to want to check it multiple times just to be sure it is at the right level unless you want to use the 1/8″ small pipe threaded plug in the side of the pan.

Overfilling will cause the transmission to over heat so the oil plug is used like the one in the differential. You will have to do some research because I cannot remember if the oil level is checked hot or cold, but it is checked with the transmission in neutral and the engine idling. Maybe someone on here remembers when to check.

I installed a Tivo OTA in my Marathon and it’s one of the best mods I’ve done. There’s no subscription fee and while changing local channels requires an internet connection, it only needs to be online for ten to 15 minutes while it gathers local programming information. Otherwise, no internet connection is required…unless you’re in the same spot for a couple of weeks and additional grid guide information may be needed.

It allows for the recording of up to six local channels simultaneously and includes a skip function that allows for commercial blocks to be skipped with a press of a single button. (Note: A new Tivo feature allows for commercials to be skipped automatically). Also, the built in tuner is top tier and does a good job with the signals.

My bus had two Blu-Ray players in the rack and I simply removed one and inserted the Tivo in its place. Then, I just needed to split the antenna connection, plug it in and it was up and running. Since the bus has a Crestron system, I was able to control the input and volume, but instead of using the Crestron controller to change channels, I used the included RF Tivo remote. In other words, I added the Tivo OTA to the system without generating Crestron programming charges.

Bottom Line: Highly recommended for motorhome use.

Mike, my first reaction when I read the post was a poor ground or some intermittent electrical connection. Before I went to DD to find out what is going on I would unplug and plug the connectors at the ECM a few times just in case there is some corrosion. There are contact cleaners available that likely should be sprayed on the terminals also.

I would look to see if there is anything obvious that might be a chafed or pinched wire bundle.

If that has not affect then I would set something up with a DD dealer, but make sure the dealer is aware of the issue and can correct the problem you had previously.

Keep in mind there are only 3 things that will cause an SEL and they are easy to check at the sensors. Low coolant level, high coolant temp, and low oil pressure. It sounds to me that yours is system related and not exclusive to a sensor.

Your venturing pretty far from the swamp driver.

Loops are designated areas, A thru F have hook ups.

I haven’t been to Lake Powell in 30 years because it was so low due to the drought. With the last couple of wet winters the Lake has come up.

I would say it’s a river crowd. Alot of big toys on the lake.

Mine was acting up, there was a lose connector on the relay in the closet in the bedroom behind one of the velcro attached covers, mine was in the one next to the drawers.

When I first bought the coach, Marathon replaced mine, um… 40 hours labor.

Bad thing about Waze in the Bus, It will take you places you don’t want to go in a big vehicle, it doesn’t know, We have used Waze for a few years in the car it will direct you around traffic side streets.

You probably have been there but I thought that I would suggest the “Prevost-Stuff” website just in case. Using your criteria, I came up with 11 coaches for sale there. This site and the Prevost-Stuff website probably have the best selection of listings.

    Good luck on your hunt.

    Dick,

Since this was brought up I’ll provide an update to my issue.

Made it home with the “patch” ( or hack, which ever you want to call it). Got it to TN later on and just for the fun, we decided to put wiring back to stock (splicing original harness into sensor and dec box in front).

All worked fine, and I’ve put another 10k on it since with no issues.

My guess was we didn’t seat the sensor properly, tried to do some other checks, then ran the temp twisted pair, while also re-seating the sensor. Should have ta ken more time and done a single trouble shooting step at a time and saved some time and grief.

The original sensor was the issue no matter what.
