I would love to hear any special refrigerant pressure formula to increase the temp drop from Cruisairs. I would also like any possible information about condensor fans with higher volume than the Cruisairs came with. Like Don’s, mine give me only about a 15 degree drop, which is not enough. I am right now contemplating adding one or two roof airs to supplement the mid bus Cruisairs on really hot days. Has anyone done anything like that?

D&C,
Congrats on a well researched purchase. I hope to be in your position in eight months and find a seller, like Peter, who meticulously took great care of their coach and would often ongoing advice after the sale.
Jon has been great!

I would guess the labor to replace it would run around four hours and the total cost would be dependent upon if it was brand new or just recored.

Jon on the battery side, Nick Hessler wired me per modern convention so that the 4 batteries are one big bank (the + and – to both inverters are tied together as re the 2 banks in the DC panel.
On on the AC input side each inverter is fed from the breaker panel with a different phase of the 2-phase input.
On on the AC output side each inverter drives a different side of the bus.
my understanding is that the dual-input / dual output 3000 unit would handle a split phase input and output and all I would lose is some overall wattage.
Only difference from from a straight 3-wire hookup is each phase has its own neutral from the fuse box I would have to combine the two 2-wire cables back into a single 3-wire cable to run into the inverter.
BTW, here is a picture of the carnage. In inspecting the other inverter I found that they soldered the two wires together and then coveren with a wire nut. Been 40 years since I soldered by the joints looked dull which if I remember means a “cold” joint so perhaps that is the culpret:

But, I also must wonder about your statement that you had resorted to using the Suburban when the Prevost was not ready. Does that not give you an unfair weight advantage?

I apologize in advance for Melissa’s behavior.
I will pay for any damages.

Looks great Al. You must be quite a site at night. What company offers the headlights?

PGB, this is what Jon started with. Very basic, environmentally friendly, economical, no stainless to polish, no panels to come unglued. It was kind of cold in the winter but he made it.
Could be Tom’s new bus, well not bus exactly.

From the point of view of a first-timer who’s looking into a major lifestyle change and considering a Prevost, yes it’s an intimidating world!
From a current non-owner’s perspective, I’m doing my best not to bother dealers at this point. But when I decide it’s time to move forward with a purchase, things such as making sure the specific model has undergone a full PDI and operating as promised is intimidating to those who are new to this arena. I can only guess that there are others out there like me who would like to find a preowned model that suits my needs but simply don’t have the experience to make sure we’re making a good decision and avoid the costs of buying new.
It sure would be nice to have some sort of independent “personal shopper/consultant” who is not connected with a specific dealer/seller who can provide advice on available coaches and be able to make sure the buyer (in my case, me) is making an educated decision and selecting a model that’s ideal for a specific lifestyle and mechanically sound. From a newbies perspective, finding someone to provide some sort of eduction on the buying process, deliver training on the proper operation (when running and stored) as well as ongoing maintenace would be a very good thing. From a first-timer’s perspective, this would be a valuable service.
I’m taking my time in figuring this out, but from the outside looking in, the dealer websites all look great and are a good way of narrowing down workable floorplans. But learning the ins-and-outs from a seasoned professional about which dealers/converters/sellers are credible and provide the best service after the sale as well as what to look for when buying a pre-owned coach could assist in simplifying the process.
This Summer, I am planning a trip around the country and hope to meet many motorhome owners to hear various opinions and through that process, attempt to provide a level of self-education. Yeah, I know that opinions are like…, but I figure, if I hear the same opinion over and over, there might be something to it. Until then, reading the posts on sites such as this one (a well run non-drama site!) is a good start. The one thing I’ve learned online, is that when it comes to high end motorhomes, there’s Prevost and there’s SOB. That statement alone speaks volumes.
Thanks for the words of warning. I’m doing my best in reading just about everything I can so that when it’s time to make a decision, I know I’m buying a coach that will last me many, many years with no regrets. Yes, I’m attempting to only purchase once and hope to get it right the first time.
But getting back on topic, the PDI process is a scary one to a newbie and if anyone has suggestions to make it less painful, I’m all ears! I’m sure there are numerous others (possibly some lurkers out there) who could also benefit from some type of professional consultation.

There shpuld be a schradier air valve on one end of the accumuator tank. Check to see if it has any air pressure. I had one tank get a leak in the bladder that allowed water to get onto the air side. When I checked for air pressure water came out. Put in a new tank and all is well again.

Jon…
No ladder for me … did that the first time… never again… I use the long handled boat brush with big thick towels over the end… builds up arm muscles too. I don’t get on top of the bus anymore either, but I can reach every part of the bus except for the roof and drys beautifully and NO streaks.
BTW make it a scotch please Jon !!
