  • Headlight updates

Posted by Glenn on July 2, 2014 at 11:12 pm

Hey guys, what are the best options to upgrade the AWFUL stock headlights on an 02 XL2. I want to upgrade to the newer small double headlights that came on the 06 up busses.

I see the kits on eBay but is there a lower cost alternative that allows one to pick there own bulbs, possibly an HID setup?

I can handle getting the paintwork done on my end and also install as well unless there is something out of the ordinary that needs doing.

I am sure a few on here must have updated headlights already….I will probably do the driving/fog lights like Peter did with LED’s down the orad but really want to update the headlights now!

    Thanks!

G-man, You can buy the the ballasts and HD bulbs and install them behind the stock lenses(polish while off) fairly cheaply. I had Parliament do mine on our XL as I didn’t like the look of the round ones on the XLs, however if I had an XLII, I would probably go to the later style round. More money though.

I bought my kit from Bus For Sale in Nashville, TN. Excalibur Coach in Sanford, FL. Is another source. I love mine but it took about three tries to get them aimed properly.

P C advertiser Xtreme Graphics has the headlight upgrade available. Completely made ready to install and available with painted frame to match plus exact Prevost plug- in.

Xtreme was very competitive with other vendors offering this upgrade.

Thanks guys, I will check out extreme graphics, was looking to find something a little less $ than the ones on eBay where I can sort out the actual lights myself.

Looked around finding several companies offering headlight upgrade for our 2000 HS-45. Located one offering a harness, keeping day time running lights option and replacement stainless bezel to match keeping same front cap stainless accents.

This completes the exterior lighting up grade change to LED and Xenon.

Clearance lights are available from Grote.

Marker lights both red (rear) and amber (front) available from Truck-Lit. Both Grote and Truck-Lit LED’s are exact

    replacement.

Tail Lights all 17 available in LED from IBP Industries a PC sponsor.

Original front OEM headlights with turn signal

Original tail, turn, brake, back-up lights

That looks great Al. I wasn’t aware that there was an upgrade like that available for the H’s.

Looks great Al. You must be quite a site at night. What company offers the headlights?

Great job BA, looks like a new bus.

IBP is not one of our Advertisers. We have done our best, personal visit by Jon and I, numerous phone calls and an e-mail telliing us they wanted to be an Advertiser, but no action on their part. They are truely missing the boat by not being on the PC site. We put them on the site free for 3 months, that’s the best we can do.

We hope they’ll join up one day, maybe our members who deal with them can nudge them a little.
