Just wondering why you wouldn’t consider the Honda CR-V. We have had two (an ’07 and now a ’13).

The thing we like about the CR-V is that it is AWD and has decent ground clearance. I like having the clearance if we ever encounter a ‘gator’ (truck tire carcass) in the road or any other debris. If we are able to drive over it in the coach, I don’t want it to hit the toad.

In the previous Honda (’07), I was able to miss the ‘road gator rubber’ in the coach but as I tried to miss it in the toad, the front passenger tire of the Honda caught the ‘gator’ and broke the front wheel liner (not bad, never replaced it).

We get excellent mileage out of the CR-V and it can seat five and carry a lot of cargo. Ours has Navigation which is imperative when scouting around in new area’s once we are ensconced in an RV Resort.

I would disable the automatic leveling feature so the compressor isn’t working excessively.

We have had a coach that would maintain the level position with the key off. There are so many things that can cause the system to seek level it was just better to leave it off. The system to maintain level is sensitive enough that a number of people walking front to rear or side to side was sufficient to cause it to make an adjustment. Winds are a major cause for the system constantly trying to adjust itself. Bottom line, we get it as level as possible and then turn it off.

If doing that the coach starts to lean side to side or settle in the front, you have a leak in the suspension at the respective position and that needs to be repaired. A tight coach will sit level for a very long time. The Prevost standard has been three days, meaning if it hasn’t moved in three days it is acceptable.

    Jim,

The Junn-Air should be your aux pump that provides air to all your accessories including suspension. If I’m not staying in the bus, I turn mine off in case there is a leak and the pump would run continuously. If your Royale has HWH, that auto leveling system may work with the key in the off position, checking the bus for level every so often. If it doesn’t function with the key off, then aux air is less important while the bus is setting. If you don’t need aux air inside for the toilet, pocket doors, bed lift, etc., then keeping the aux pump on is not necessary.

Keep in mind, assuming the HWH does not function with the key off, your suspension air is locked in all the bags and your aux air can be zero and should have no effect on your suspension.

Jon and I posted about the same time, so sorry for any duplication.

Ours had a dinette with four chairs when we bought it used in 2008. We took it out and repurposed that area. The passenger area across from the couch had two chairs with a table in between. We use that table as a work station with laptops and as a dining room table. It works great for us.

    Jim,

If your gauge is same as mine than it is a Headhunter part and should be available from them, if you desire to change it out. http://www.headhunterinc.com/

Marathon installed 4 new Colman roof air units on my coach July this year, these units will freeze you if they are all on. I have yet to use more than 2 at a time.

In searching for a source for Norgren valve repair kits, I located the following company that also carries the valves. In September, I purchased a 5-port valve (NR K81EA00-KAC-KAC) for $75.61 – brand new. The part number is identical to the one removed.

That’s the beauty of Aqua-Hot, you can run it on electric and I used to do the same thing when really cold while in the barn.

Update Guys on heating problem experienced on way home from Prevost Houston. Was going to get it back in and coudn’t meet appointment because of work related issues. Found (or my mobile tech did) that the belt on fan wasn’t tightening up and belt was slipping. Asked me if I had adjusted tension, No. Tightened up and made trip to Corpus Christi last weekend and never got above 195 pulling F150 crew cab ford , outside temp about 85. . Tech left for Florida and haven’t talked to him but I figure there is a valve to open and close for belt tension. Engine didn’t start heating until I went in for wheel seal replacements. Must have leaked down. Haunted bus strikes again.

Yep, if you add air in the steering compartment it comes back through the Norgren filter before heading to accessories.

Like Rick I used wood blocks for chassis support when the bus was stored in a barn whe we lived in western NY. Hardwood blocking has some advantages in that the weight of the coach is distributed over a fairly large area. I replaced all air bags and Norgrens with the coach supported that way.

If a previous owner did not properly service the air system it is possible water could get in the Norgrens. Air system maintenance involves dryer replacement on a regular basis, draining all air tanks often and draining the water trap that catches condensate from the aux compressor.

Once a Norgren has moisture in it, the surface of the bore usually starts to corrode and the Norgren will no longer be leak free.

You can buy them from McMaster-Carr. I just bought 3 as one had broken.

I must be listening to Jon too much – buying extra spares of everything
