I own a ranch in wheatland wy two hours north of Denver you can come stay there if you want 50 amp power water and no trees to scratch the coach best of all no charge and dump station …Tom and Nancy stayed here last year we had good time …….

Take Peter up on his offer, great ranch and you can’t do better than visiting Peter and Trina. Here’s what the parking spot looks like.. Peter was trying to get his friend to hook Bert or Ernie, I get them mixed up, to the bus and pull it. I think maybe that big boy could have done it!

We are just in the planning stages with some friends from Eugene OR. We are looking for a place half way between them and us that we can spend about a week.

Not sure if Riverview RV Park will be repaired from flooding west of Loveland on Big Thompson but you could use KOA Lakeside in la Porte/Ft Collins Co. We’ve had the bus there. Or Dakota Ridge Rv Park Golden co, a sister to Elk Meadows. A Marathon H3-45 #714 is there now. Then you could take I 70. West into Utah. Take Hwy 6 to Price/American Forks and SLC to catch I 84 into Idaho and Boise and at Ontario take 20/26 towards Bend then wind down Mackenzir river to Springfield/Eugene. I 80 thru Wyoming can be windy and lots of trucks since 80 goes to both coasts

We stayed there 3 years ago, in August, found it quite decent, and probably the best in the area, with good amenities, convenient to Estes Park, and Rocky Mountain NP. I would choose a pull-through. We did not have a toad at the time. The sites are dirt/gravel (then), there was a nice store, and most important for us, a shuttle to the NP that circulates through town (either going or coming, can’t recall).

If you are coming into town from the east/I-25, there is tight left turn in Estes Park that might be tricky if oncoming traffic and traffic coming into the intersection from the left doesn’t leave you turning room when it is (very) busy with pedestrians and vehicles; just take your time and wait for the clueless. It will be more difficult coming back, but we turned off (right) before the intersection. You will not want to move the coach once you are in, until you leave the area. If you go in season (summer only), I would get reservations, as I don’t think the alternatives are viable if you are visiting the NP. In winter, I would leave the area alone. Coming from I-25 you will be climbing on the way to Estes Park. Be careful as the rock cliff outcroppings on the right sometimes encroach enough to worry about (in traffic).

My two cents. Get back to this thread when and if you go, and let us know what you thought.

I learned real quick at Peter’s ranch that you don’t want to be a boy cow! Big Jim had a very, very sharp knife and was skilled at snipping off thos gnads, so it be really good to be a girl cow.

We’ve stayed at Spruce Lake a couple of times in a smaller coach. Not sure 45′ will fit. But Elk Meadow Park can handle 45′ according to Big Rigs Best Bets.

We stayed in Elk Meadow in 2010. It was mostly dirt/gravel but served us fine for visiting Rocky Mountain National Park.

Elk Meadow works well. It can get dusty there depending on the amount of rain. We had stayed there multiple years, and most of the sites handle a 45 foot coach with slides without problems. Just remember getting to Estes Park you have to go through an area with tight turns and significant climb. Doable, but need to be prepared. i would not recommend doing this in the dark forthe first time.
