Tim made a good point about advice. We all share the Prevost chassis but there are a lot of variation and we have to always try to keep the specific year and model in mind when we ask or read about them.
There have been some major variations and what may seem like an easy question may not be so easy when we consider we have gone from an 8V92 engine to a Series 60 engine to the current Volvo. We went from a single model, the 40 foot XL called the Le Mirage to an H3, then 45 foot coaches were added and somewhere after that the solid axle front suspension went to an independent front suspension (IFS).
Then in 2000 the XLII was introduced and shortly after that slides were added. Around the late nineties, early 2000 the demand for slides was strong so coaches were modified to have slides made by a number of manufacturers so all slides were not made by Prevost. As emissions standards tightened controls and devices were added and we started using terms such as EGR and CAC. Then came the multiplex chassis. Then DEF.
That is a very short summary of how we need to start making our signature line specific with respect to the coach, type, model year and converter. Without that information answers and comments may not make sense.
Then we further make answering questions and interpreting comments even more difficult by trying to answer questions concerning the conversion. That is where we have to understand a Liberty or Millennium guy might have some general knowledge but to get specific when answering a question from a Marathon owner really needs a Marathon owner. Those seeking asnwers are cautioned to be very careful before accepting advice from owners of other conversions. There is no way a Vantare owner should accept an asnwer about his electrical system from a Liberty owner without qualifying the answer. The systems are completely different although both have wires, batteries and inverters.
Those of us who are not familiar with multiplex systems need to be very careful about trying to help someone who has such a system because a lot of the items we see in abundance such as breakers, relays and lots of wires just are not there on a multiplex coach and if we start offering suggestions about changing to a new style headlight or adding marker lights we may be getting the owner in trouble when he realizes he has to reprogram his multiplex coach because something as simple as changing the loads will create error messages.
So Jake’s point about where good advice is going to come from is very important and accurate.
However, everyone should keep in mind that we just make up most of the answers on here so if accuracy is that important maybe this is not the place to be.

Thanks for sharing. What would you call extreme heat? I read that some folks wet down the pad to cool it off so the CA will work better.

It cost me $10 more a month … total, moving from the 22GB plan to the Unlimited plan.
I would mention that sometimes when streaming I have to deal with “buffering” and if it’s not a strong LTE signals, it becomes a pain and I won’t stream at all.
But for $10 more a month, for me, it was a no-brainer …
And to clarify Tom, In the Unlimited plan, you get 22GB at LTE speed for each device that has its own line you pay for separately, not devices you have to use a hotspot for … that’s 10GB.

Dick….
First thing I would do is make certain that I have Cleco’s to fit and hold the panel in place. I have only used the aircraft Cleco’s and have been told by car builder friends that the aircraft are much better than those offered by places like Eastwood. They run a couple of dollars each and a good set of Cleco pliers about 20, try Chief or Aircraft Spruce.
Hopefully your panels are pre-drilled, I won’t get into that one! However, if you do, measure three times, drill once. Also if your in an area that is to be painted I would use a steel rivet vice SS (don’t believe there is a galvanic issue there)….much easier to paint.
The rivets that I replaced were up high so access for the hand puller was easy. I said access, not force, the SS rivets fight back however I believe you do have better control; it would take two men and a boy to suck the skin in as was shown in the video. As I mentioned the object here is to attach the skin without dimpling, so a bit of a soft touch is better (think something about shear should be in here). Should you choose an air rivet puller, I would put a few rivets in the old panel to gain the proper air adjustment…the sweet spot. I have a rivet gun, not a puller…..use it to set standard and flush rivets (with a partner holding a small bucking bar). I can set that thing by ear!

Sorry guys but the bank storage idea wasn’t mine, but was one I heard as a joke about some guy with an expensive car that wanted it protected while he was traveling.
All my buses have been stored in my garages 15 paces from my house. I would never want remote storage, and couldn’t bring myself to allow someone else to control how my coach is secured.

My bus came with the MCI driver manual for the E4500 seated coach. It says that whenever heating or cooling is needed for the comfort of passengers while parked, the driver should run the bus on high idle and adjust the air conditioning as needed. I’m sure that is not good for the engine as the DD manual states, but passenger buses typically run 500,000 miles or more before an engine overhaul, and I expect they all have had many, many hours of idling by that point. Maybe they would get to 700,000 miles before overhaul if they had not been idling so much, but the point is, a half hour of idling the Series 60 every now and then is not going to have noticable impact on your engine.

Just registered…looking forward to seeing some rare machines…and meeting some even more rare folks that keep ’em rolling along. 🙂

I’ve found that Trend Micro Maximum Security does an excellent job in providing timely and regular updates for the latest threats.

Things have changed and we won’t be able to make it to Clawfest. Anyone looking for a reservation slot let me know.

Reese,
I pulled up there listing so PC members could look at Superior’s conversion example. Just trying to be helpful.

Thanks for the suggestions Al and Per. I already have the gloves, so I will try them first.
