Your welcome, Jon.
The wildest thing I’ve seen and read is the national magazine article I posted above as found.
Go above on this thread to message dated 7/20/2015. Copied right out of the magazine.
I happened to stumble on this piece showing an RV owner who knew no more about driving a 40,000 + pound RV. A front tire blowout happens and in a second this driver jams on the brake, holds the steering wheel straight and go’s for a ride, his words.
If you watch the video you will learn that in a split second this totally wrong drivers reaction endangered everyone in his RV and all traffic around him.
He bragged about his lack of knowledge to the world nearly killing everyone inside his RV and wrecking his RV.
In his case just plane luck everyone walked away, including the dog.
The next example right along side is the experience driver who had a sudden loss of air , gets out of the way, calls for help and on his way again in a few hours.

The primary reason to run the generator while going down the road is to provide for a comfortable environment. If you don’t have heavy loads such as to run an AC just leave it off. The load on your alternators and batteries will be negligable because as you point out you realy don’t have any heavy demands.

Ah, the irony…rich dudes with million dollar busses trying to extract tenths of mpg. I can see eliminating EGR for other reasons, but not fuel milege alone. Geo.

Jimmy, You don’t mention if there is power available.
If there is it is likely your coach has a means by which you can keep the water bay and interior above freezing.
When we lived in Jamestown, even with it 20 below I was able to use a cube heater in the water bay (fill the water tank because it is a huge heat sink) set at the 500 Watt setting, and a single heater on the kitchen counter set at 500, 1000, 0r 5000 watts depending on how cold it was really going to get.
At 30 degrees my guess is no heat or provisions are necessary, but prolonged cold spells below 32 will require supplemental heating.
If you don’t have available shore power just run the generator with whatever heaters you have turned on. You will likely use less than .5 GPH.

It’s a Liberty Coach. I would have been surprised and very disappointed at anything less.

My guess is its better than the original

Kurt my CC has 6 — 8D’s . Lifelines from Truk of course. -
Tom, how much does IFS improve the turning radius. My 1990 obviously does not have IFS and I’m happy as can be with the ride and handling. My smile is always very big whenever I’m behind the wheel. I’ve never driven a Prevost with IFS. Can it really be that much better? Less moving parts seems ok to me too.

Jeff,
My Tracstar 360 is on Dish using the 119 bird as I type, I used the 110 bird last night. I have not even tried to get the129 bird. It would be very low in the sky way up here in Maine.
I don’t like the way the Trackstar and Dish 211K box talk to each other, so I have done the set up (check switch) with the 110/119 satelite (or with the 110/119/129 birds) so that the box will download the menus for either the 2 or 3 bird set up respectively. I then manually select the bird I want to hit (using the tracstar control box) and select the channel. If I leave the trackstar set to the multiple bird position and change the channel to one that requires an alternate bird then before the trackstar can switch birds, the 211K tries to switch to the SD version and it will try and change birds again as generally the HD and SD signals for the same channels are on different birds. The HD signals are spread across all three birds with a lot of them on the 129 bird.
I thought Tracstar whet out of the RV business and so I didnot think they were even doing software upgrades any more? Mine was last updated three years ago right after I bought the coach. Whats the real story here?

Brian: What about a 1998 Series 60 with 76,000 miles? When should I have the valves adjusted?

I don’t think the buying public is that bad. I fully agree some people are not happy unless they can steal something below cost. That has a tendency to drive quality down at a faster rate than the price.
But speaking for myself I adjust my standards as influenced by certain factors. I know for sure to do a lot of the work I do around the house or on my vehicles I need the correct tools. So if I buy a tool that I know is going to get very limited use I am heading to Harbor Freight when it is on special. Usually the quality is far below almost any similar product available through Sears or Lowe’s or NAPA, but far too often I find it is cheaper to buy the tool and get only a few uses out of it than to take my car to a dealer for the repair. So my expectations are very low, and if it works I am happy with the tool.
Conversely, we like to cook so my wife and I have a decent collection of tools and small appliances for the kitchen. Without exception we have had nothing but bad luck with every single hand held mixer that we have bought and used. We have spent a lot of money to get hand held power mixers that suggest they are superior because they draw twice the watts of almost any other mixer. We have spent as little as $10 for a mixer because it was dirt cheap and the expensive ones failed quickly. So now to us there is no such thing as quality regardless of how it looks or whose name is on the appliance. So as big and cumbersome as it is we continue ot use our big old heavy Kitchen Aid mixer that is so old when we bought it the only color was white. That is quality because it has to be almost 40 years old and it still continues to do everything asked of it.
Price also is a measure of what quality should be, not necessarily what it is. If I pay 2 times the cost for something it better be a whole lot better in every respect than something I can buy for 1/2 the price.
