Posted by Archived on August 27, 2015 at 10:08 amI have heard that there is a problem right not with Trac Star dishes and Directv service going on right now that will require a software update, which is not available yet. Anyone having any problems right now?

Jeff,
My Tracstar 360 is on Dish using the 119 bird as I type, I used the 110 bird last night. I have not even tried to get the129 bird. It would be very low in the sky way up here in Maine.
I don’t like the way the Trackstar and Dish 211K box talk to each other, so I have done the set up (check switch) with the 110/119 satelite (or with the 110/119/129 birds) so that the box will download the menus for either the 2 or 3 bird set up respectively. I then manually select the bird I want to hit (using the tracstar control box) and select the channel. If I leave the trackstar set to the multiple bird position and change the channel to one that requires an alternate bird then before the trackstar can switch birds, the 211K tries to switch to the SD version and it will try and change birds again as generally the HD and SD signals for the same channels are on different birds. The HD signals are spread across all three birds with a lot of them on the 129 bird.
I thought Tracstar whet out of the RV business and so I didnot think they were even doing software upgrades any more? Mine was last updated three years ago right after I bought the coach. Whats the real story here?

i have a Tracstar on Dish, but it’s in need of updates. I thought Tracstar was out of the business. If not, I would certainly like to know about getting updates.

I have Trac Star and it is used with Direct TV…..cannot get it to pull in a signal of sufficient strength.

I put the new KVH TracVision RV1 on in spring I use Direct tv and all across Canada and all the USA no trouble the guys said it was the only one that can keep up with all the changes with sat TV , it’s in motion sat works great never a problem

I used to have a KVH on our last coach. It was unreliable and i was almost as unhappy with it as I was with the KVH support which turns out was a cruel joke they played on customers. It was an illusion.

Sorry to hear that Jon this one has run with no problem , maybe they have updated it I used Satilite world in Las Vegas, this is the second one I have had , on another coach I had , it had the old KVH big dome and had it for 8 years no problem either , must have good luck with them I have never had a problem , but saying that Jon you know how it goes now I will, this new one is the smaller dome,
I don’t call KVH , I call Sat World in Vegas and they are the best in the business no need to call KVH

Try a “0” Calibrate on your Trac Star.
Mine has had a low or no signal percentage, and this fixes it every time.

The only thing I haven’t yet done is the magnetic thing. I have done everything else. I cannot do the magnetic thing becuase they are really going to get upset if I let the bus go around in a big circle in this campground.
It won’t get past Lock Verify and the signal strength is running 22 to about 33.
Getting along without TV just fine now that we have our Lawrence Welk DVDs.

Jon…
Mine is 3.16B also and it works fine… sounds like something in the settings may not be right… we are with DTV also.
