Front mirrors removal ?
Hello all,
The Ramco mirrors have the bases attached to the bus on both sides, with 4 large Philips head stainless screws.
There must be some nuts on the other side of the wall that would require a socket put on to allow the removal of the screws …right ? ….Unless the bolts screw into welded nuts on the inside and I would not need to get to the back of the mount….
Does anybody have an idea how to get the mirrors off or how to get to the back of these mounts on the 98-99 vintage XL45 ? Got under the dash with a flashlight and can’t seem to see anything that high up under there….

Unscrew them from outside….no nuts to hold

You need to be able to support them during removal because of the electrical cables.

I found a pair of replacement bus mirrors, chrome, heavy, with LED turn signal in the mirror , heat and Voyager CMOS side cameras. They fit perfectly the Ramco base and bolt locations but can’t figure out who made them….They are pretty big and I don’t think they are made by Velvac either…can’t find them in any catalog Ramco or Velvac…. I got them from Newmar and these apparently were brought in about 2 years ago for the new King Aire as the prototype and once the production was launched they got put away and sold as surplus last week….
Now I have to figure out how to sort out the pinout on the 6 pin plug at each mirror to get it all to work ( turn signal, movement and heat) and then access from inside the leads and connect the Voyager side cameras into a monitor….getting to those leads under the dash will be tough…..
I will use a Voyager 4 camera LCD screen AOM 7694 and also convert the old rear Sony B&W camera to the new color with tilt unit that Voyager makes…..Fun project….My old Ramco’s are shaky and chrome is peeling everywhere. Hope these are an improvement. The left arm is a lot shorter and should wrap nicely around the front left corner and come into the right position in the driver side window.

This is the kind of upgrade mirrors that Ramco should be marketing to us.
