Since there are variations in coach floor plans and locations of some devices such as the GFCI outlets I am not sure any of us can give you specific locations to look, but the one on the underside of the kitchen cabinets is one of them and being out of sight it is easily overlooked. I think the GFCI for the rear outlets is located in the bath area and if your floor plan has a private toilet it might be in there, or it could be on a vanity. Good luck.

On most all inverters they have pass through, everything that inverts passes through the inverter, regardless if it is inverting or not, it goes through small relays that are soldered on a circuit board, not real big and AC power goes through and things like heaters pull 12.5 or more through for long periods of time a blow dryer pulls a lot of amps but a short time, my Aqua Hot pulls around 13 amps but it has is own breaker.

Merry Christmas to all. We’re having a quiet last Christmas in SC before moving to high ground in central FL next year. Major downsize. Building a ‘maintenance free’ house with attached bus garage. And we’ll still be on the road for six months.

As long as engine coolant temp is above the Webasto temp cut in, the pump runs, but the burner does not. So you see the light, but the Webasto is not firing.

This has been an interesting exchange supported by logic and practical experiences. I would be interested in statistics but not enough to the leg work. I agree with Jon about the distracted drivers and that is why I stopped riding a motorcycle. Lets start with a simple statistic that we can all agree on, as much as we would all like to be sharing the roads exclusively with Jon clones (referring only to his need to constantly improve his driving skills), statistically speaking, what are the chances that will ever happen?

I think that we have all heard the statistic that planes are safer than cars and that seems to still be the case (I lied, I did look that statistic up.). So you may not like the new plane technology but statistically, you are still safer flying. The Air France Flight 447 Airbus A330 that was in the article Jon referenced included this description of the planes technology: “This makes it very hard to crash an A330, and the plane had a superb safety record: there had been no crashes in commercial service in the first 15 years after it was introduced in 1994.” So statistically speaking, is this good or bad as it relates to planes that would have been flown instead of the A330 had the A330 not have been developed? Put another way, is this a safer airplane then its predecessors? Regardless of the reason for the crash, this is the real question and probably the best way to determine if we are going forward or backwards in terms of flying safer. Of course, we should always be learning and improving to make things safer.

I see this same type of argument regarding cars. Will the technology in cars make the roads safer? I don’t know, but if there are no improvements to curtail distracted drivers it sure seems like technology will be an improvement. If something goes wrong and the driver freezes, are we better off with the new technology or just having the distracted driver without the technology? I suspect that eventually we will have those statistics.

I wonder if Jon’s incident after the seminar would have occurred had the other vehicle been an autonomous vehicle? This is a case of a very skilled defensive driver being forced to take evasive action because of a driver with who knows what kind of skills, could not negotiate a turn within the space allotted to him.

Sorry if some feel that you are losing control of your vehicle but I for one would embrace any technology that will make our roads safer. I get it that this is up for debate and we should all strive to improve our skills because that also contributes to making the roads safer but don’t expect others to do the same.

My comments need to be in context.

I think it is fantastic if I have all of the passive but active safety enhancements ranging from adaptive cruise control to lane change alerts, to ABS to cars that will do the parking for you or at least tell you when to step on the brake or gas.

I know these devices are better than any driver because they do not get tired or bored. They are precise. But unless you all see these as supplementing your driving skills and not a substitute I am opposed to them.

If for a moment I thought all of you were so serious about your skill retention you would drive in a manner to rarely if ever have those features function I change my tune. I do not get that sense. I seem to hear they are safety features being relied upon. I also get a sense having them allows even more use of the phone or other distractions while driving.

Don’t feel bad the pilot community used to thrash me for hand flying all instrument approaches by hand rather than using the autopilot. I was told how precise the autopilot was and how any autopilot is better than a human. But like the devices being touted here autopilots break and when they do you only have your skills between you and a bad outcome. Use it or lose it.

Jimmy … the snow must be beautiful. Post a picture.

I have a feeling that Jimmy’s looking forward to posting photos that have sand in the background and not snow!

My Groco pump is 12V and cost over 200.00 per Volt.

I cannot disagree with Rocky but the reality in my world is if I have to start keeping track of what switches need to be on that’s when the bus is heading downward in terms of convenience.

Nothing quite like getting soaped up in the shower and remembering I forgot to turn on the water pump. Or while I am driving hearing Di shout something’s wrong because we have no water because her memory is as bad as mine.

If that was happening on my coach my first reaction would be to measure the current draw when the Webasto is turned on. If it is excessive (based on current ratings for all components) I would look for the issue within that system.

If it is not my focus would shift to the breaker on the inverter. It is not uncommon for circuit breakers to trip prematurely as they age.

    Tom,

Read the desc for that item. It is a 30 amp cord.

The 50 amp cords are 4 wire. 3 spades and the outer ring is ground. It is a marine style cable.

I grabbed the wrong picture, corrected. Tom

    Jerry,

I washed the coach yesterday from top to bottom (not the roof) as we are heading out today on a 2,000 mile trip westward. I checked our tires and all looks good but I can definitely see that the edge of a 365 is vulnerable if all the weight is concentrated on the very edge. The 315 doesn’t have that close-to-edge tread.

    Safe travels,

    Mark
