Makes me think there is an inline fuse for the control unit somewhere.

When you accessed it behind the dash, did you check to see if there was power to the unit?

Maybe Al will jump in here, he had to replace his on his 2000 Marathon and maybe he remembers if it’s fused.

Mark3101, when you say ‘push the switch’, are talking the center of the steering wheel?

I will have to check to see if we have anything other than the air horn. I’ll have to push the center of the steering wheel to see what happens with the key off.

We do have a separate ‘handle’ to operate the train horn that I can pull that is located to the right side of the steering wheel at the bottom of the dash.

We don’t have extra switches on the smart wheel. The two on the left operate the computer in the center of the Prevost dash readout. The two on the right operate the radio.

    Safe travels,

I disagree BA.. The protection protection valve prevents air flow into the auxiliary air system until the braking system has been supplied enough air to function, usually around 70 psi. Doesn’t have a thing to do with maintaining aux air for the belts.

    Mark,

I really like your idea about putting out the cone(s) when backing by yourself! It would get you precisely where you want to be. Thanks,

    Dana,

That looks like a fair price. We paid something similar 2 years ago. We called Raritan; and if I remember correctly, they gave us a discounted price since we were replacing a failed unit. It was better than any price that I could find online. The rep also told us that most heaters drop ship from Raritan in NJ anyway.

If you have gel cell batteries you should be aware they are sensitive to excess charging voltage. Most of us use Lifeline batteries because they are durable and last, they are not as adversely affected by heat like gel cell, and unlike lead acid batteries they require no maintenance. You cannot look at a battery and determine if it is good or bad. You need to test them with the proper battery tester. But the more you reveal the more extensive your problems might be.

Seeing your Freedom remote panels suggests you have a 24V Elegant Lady. If that is the case you do not have 5 house batteries. If you do then someone has messed with the coach in which case a lot of information you get in response to your questions may be wrong.

I think you need to do some detailed checking to see exactly what you are dealing with because you can throw a lot of money at your coach in the form of new inverters, batteries, etc and still have issues. I would urge you to get the coach to a qualified shop familiar with Liberty conversions and have your real problems isolated and identified. At that point you can make good decisions about what to do. I don’t know where you are located so that will influence who you select to deal with the problems but I would urge you to NOT take it to anyone that does not possess Liberty Coach specific expertise and that includes Prevost because their expertise is related to the chassis.

If you choose to dive in and work on this yourself be aware your coach has specific shut down procedures to protect systems and devices so before you even begin to separate batteries for testing or disconnecting terminals and grounds for cleaning you need to follow those steps. There should be detailed placards outlining the procedures but if they are not available or the systems have been changed from the original configuration you should seek help.

    Jon,

Where is the valve that controls the Marathon Aux air Prevost Aux air? Is it in the driver door area?

Dan, This is a real simple topic to explain from my perspective. The size of components selected by Prevost is to meet the needs which usually are part of what is required for certification by the DOT.

It would be far cheaper and easier for Prevost to only stock one size brake chamber but then they would have to come up with a design that balanced the braking forces some other way. I am sure the engineers have determined the sizes required for each axle is what is needed to insure each axle will have the same braking forces so no one axle or wheel can lock up prematurely.

The tag axle on your coach does not have ABS so if you do a maximum brake effort stop I can imagine brakes larger locking the tag.

I have dual pane windows except for the windshields and toll windows.

On certain mornings the toll windows get condensation and unless I want to wipe them with a towel I am going to have to live with the fogging. I have the vents turned to the windows but once they fog it takes a lot of air to clear them.

It is frustrating we cannot expect to have dual plan glass that lasts.
