Saturday, chased my tail all day trying to get my water system to work right. Currently pending a replacement valve.

    Sunday

    1. New bathroom fan cover, the old one that I replaced 5 months ago in a wind storm had the plastic break that allows it to slide. Pretty bad design as only side is held tight and the other side with out the slide on it has some wiggle room. The wind storm did blow over 2 of my trees. Hope I dont have any more issues on this.

    2. Fan gear box was drained and 28oz of fluid replaced.

    3. Ordered new slack adjuster as I have one not working. Hope to have that installed and my brake system project completed. I do not have any big air leaks in the air system. I put air into the system and checked all lines for bubbles with spray and they were all good. It only dropped 50 psi over the course of 7 days.

    4. Greased all the non brake fittings on the bus.

    5. Checked fitment of fridge and it fits in the hole, need to fix water to test the fridge water to bus connection prior to installing fridge.

    6. I have an air leak on the airbag, I will fix that this week.

    7. HVAC person replaced the 2nd bad valve in one of my units. He has 2 units left to complete and then we can add R22. I hope this project is complete soon.

Overall feeling is I want this project complete. Its starting to drag on and wear me out.

Side note: A kid hit the air lock button, I didnt have enough air in the system for it to work. While airing up the system from the back to check for leaks. Of course the door locks, not a huge issue as the windows were open and I could push a kid through once i removed the screen. If this happens and the windows are locked, what are my options?

Couple tips. Get a shampoo/conditioner wall mount thing and put hand soap in one and some good type stuff in other. Then put a paper towel wall mount where you can pull without needing 2 hands. Just makes life easier

I know someone that worked as a mechanic for Trailways and Kerrville Bus Companies for 40 yrs. He told me back in the day they ran motor oil in their Allison automatic transmissions. I don’t know what oil or what model transmissions.

I have talked to Tom Johnson at JG Lubricant services and he did mentioned that motor oil was approved for military applications. When?

If you have a transmission fluid sample analyzed the results will speak volumes.

Call and talk will Tom Johnson: https://jglubricantservices.com/ he’ll have accurate answers.

    Hello Tom,

On my 2001 Marathon H3-45, there is a sticker in the diesel bay by the trans dip stick that states transmission fluid has been changed from Dextron III to Mobile Devcon Super 1300 15-45. I have never heard of diesel oil being used in an Allison Transmission. (I also have the same sticker on the power steering res) I have been running on this for some time and getting ready to do a fluid and filter change and need some advice on to continue with this or switch out to Transynd 668. The trans has been running fine no issues no leaks, but I am not sure what fluid is actually in there. Someone told me that it is something truckers would do so that they would only carry one type of oil with them.
    Any thoughts or advice here.

    Thanks

    Alex

I don’t think it’s needed or even helpful. Most security systems now use wireless contact sensors anyways.

Now I would include some cameras and a doorbell camera.

Never felt the need in an RV park, but in Camp Walmart or Camp rest Area I’m not sure of the need either because when in those places we never leave the coach.

I’m for simple and wouldn’t add one.

Is Prevost the best place to buy rotors? or Meritor?

Before chasing leaks verify the accumulator tank works and has the correct bladder pressure.

That device absorbs the expansion of the water as it heats and if the bladder has collapsed it can push water out at all weak points.

Dust in every nook and cranny, engine and AC filters, etc.

Was just curious what your experiences were.

    Don:

You must have been down the road of keeping something for years, never needing it, then disposing it only to need it the next day.

    Hate it when that happens.

    Greg,

Thanks for the share of a reputable place to have work done. Especially helpful for those who live in, or are visiting CA.

    Nothing is inexpensive anymore.

$8,000 was more than I was expecting/hoping for. But a year or so ago we had NO options; unless you consider installing roof airs an option (I really didn’t and was hoping I wouldn’t have to). Today we have an option. An option that apparently does NOT require extensive modifications to the coach to “fit it in”. An option that apparently uses the existing Freon plumbing. An option that apparently uses the existing evaporators and yet uses the modern Freon (at least I think it does). An option that is apparently packaged by a good, reputable company that likely will be around for the long run. An option that leverages the huge installed base of the big boat/yacht market.

My glass is pretty full on this one. My plan at this point is to replace my four Cruise-Airs as they fail.

Thanks to whomever did the work on this.
