What did you do to your bus today Part 2
Posted by DON on June 16, 2022 at 11:55 amChucks idea to start a new “PART 2”.
Installed new banded cogged vbelt, BX97/02, to drive the OTR compressor. It replaces 2 individual v belts.
The other banded cogged v belt, AX74/03, that drives the 90* gearbox has been in place for 8k miles. It replaces 3 individual v belts.

Been using one the last two weeks (Florida to Maine). Easy setup and rocket fast, did notice a few slower times in the evenings occasionally.
Also working well with VOIP (WiFi calling) in bad cell coverage areas.

Removed the who knows how old working 24vdc starter solenoid (R4) and installed a new one, Prevost# 561005 = Presolite# SAS-5401A. Will carry the old one as a spare.

Interesting belts. Please explain the advantages of these? What are the drawbacks? Could they be more destructive to surroundings IF they do break? I am genuinely curious.

I am in the process of upgrading my Cradlepoint router/modem to work with the latest AT&T SIM card. This set-up has been bullet-proof for the last 3 years, but requires firmware changes at this time. Very frustrating for an analog guy living in this digital world………

DKO,
on my engine: 1 of the three AX73 single belts became longer than the other 2. Nothing bad happened, it just not right. That problem is not really possible with the banded single.
I’ve heard rumor rock(s) could become lodged easier in the pulleys or belt causing a vibration.
Time will tell

I changed out my front lower clearance lights to clear/amberand put on new Fog/driving lights. I also made new Elegant Lady decals for the entry and driver side doors.
I drained all my tanks and changed out the air dryer cartridge.

Completed front brakes, shocks and sway bar link bushing replacement this past weekend. A few before and after pics below. Also left side was not braking at all due to excess grease and also found it was missing outer spring (wow)! A lot of work but well worth it! Oh almost forgot about new anchor pins also!

Twice a yr our aft CruiseAir needs roughly 1 Lb of R22 freon added. Today was one of those 2 days. For me to get to the unit to recharge it I have to remove the fresh water tank, a 15 min job. Started at 9am and was done by noon. Good to go again till next spring.
I add a little bleach when adding water back into the fresh water tank. We don’t drink that water.

Finished my conversion from four 8D AGMs to a single LiFeP04. Had to upgrade from 2/0 to 4/0 cables to reduce voltage drop given higher current. They don’t make an Alternator-to-Battery controller for lithium ion yet so only charging from AC for now.

Installed a new fridge very few modifications were needed.
