Front brake Maintance
After summer I want to replace the front disk brake rotors and new Pin bushing in Meritor calipers and wheel oil seals. The rotors can be replaced and reuse hubs?? Never did this before, What kind of job is it, I’ve replaced caliper pins but not bushings, press old bushing out or drive them out?? My friend helped me years ago with the Foretravel front wheel seal that was leaking, He said that there is a couple of different types of wheel seals?? Anyone done this job before?? Art, where ever you get the parts add Meritor helper springs for the slide pins.

Nobody has replaced rotors before and nobody knows about Meritor 1560 ADB air disk brakes???

Old spec = slide pin kit with o-ring = KIT15013 or KIT15003 kit, pin dia .990” = Prevost# 611100
New spec = slide pin kit wo o-ring = KIT15016, pin dia .988” = Prevost# 611169
Torque plate bushing kit Meritor 1225M1001 (per axle)

Recommended Pin Kit
Over the years we have also learned not to use the pins with O-rings, this was a recommendation for bus application made by Meritor over 20 years ago.
In this application the O-rings tend to promote dirt to accumulate and cause the caliper not to recenter because the spring can’t overcome the drag on the pin.
We would also see the O-ring when overheated get sticky and add to the problem.
The pins without the O-ring are actually slightly smaller allowing the caliper to slide a bit easier. Inspect the pin bushings, they tend to wear on the leading edge only causing an egg shape.
If you hear a slight clunk when doing a light brake application this could be bushing or pin ware. Once the bushing is gone you will damage the bore of the caliper.
If your ordering Parts from Prevost we should only sell you the one without the O-rings
Old Kit 611100 Meritor # 15003 Pin Diameter .990
New Kit 611169 Meritor # 15016 Pin Diameter .988 (Recommended) (identified by NO O-ring)

Thanks Don I already replaced the pins with out O rings and already rebuilt Meritor calipers with minor kit all 4,New pads, Just front rotors have small cracks,not bad but I would like to replace them, The Meritor helper springs were already there. Never replaced oil seal so it would be a good time to do that and new gear oil. Rotors replacement on steer Axel only spray some lube on all those nuts and remove?? Bushing’s were just a little loose
