Another recommendations is to order up the Jake brake rebuild/update kit. They re-spec’d the springs. This is for the 2003 12.7. I would guess that I gained 25% improvement with the Jakes

According to the training we were given back then by Michelin reps; we were told that once a radial tire is placed in service it becomes a directional tire.

As I mentioned, I had my doubts about that, but now I’m just interested in knowing if the direction of rotation was changed in any of the mentioned cases. Not implying any cause for the problem – just inquisitive!

Moving a radial tire may stop the wear pattern from getting worse, but will not correct it.

Charging voltage lowers as temperture of the battery rises, which can be higher then the ambient tempature. If you do not have temperture sensors on the batteries then the charger can not lower the charging voltage as the battery temp rises.

See page 38 table 5-1 in the this doc.

    Lifeline manual

    From the chart:

    Temp absotption charge float chage

    70 14.41 13.39

    110 13.95 130

The key is the temp of the batteries when being charged, which will be higher the the air temp. So if your charger is using to high a voltage for the battery temp then it will cook your batteries.

I skipped that generation of ZipDee awning and nothing could make me happier.

I have the latest version of ZipDee awnings which are cantilevered off the roof. So far they operate quite well. But the winner in reliability is the original manual awning. On our coaches since 1990 until we bought the present coach that is the only type we ever owned and it was reliable. We had to replace a couple of brakes which involved a few pop rivets, but beyond that the awnings worked every time.

I agree with Brady. If you switch out to the original style manual awnings the frustration you feel will go away.

    Karl,

There were postings on an alternator substitute in January of ’13. I do not know what the gentleman ended up doing, but you can read the discussion and my experience with Niehoff alternators as a viable substitute. I have rebuilt the alternaor once in my Magna, if a Prevost is not in my future, I will go with Niehoff next time.

I lost 3 of my 4 from low limbs… I wasn’t going to replace them but last time I was at Marathon I saw a bus that someone had made about a 1″ wide protector it apeared to protect the sensor without reducing it’s effectiveness… Might look into that at somepoint…

That fella there is going to have that CC shining. After the wax job at Tampa and new chrome wheels everyone is going to need sunglasses when he’s around.

Borg makes long valve stems that point in the right directions and make it easy to check your tire pressure or mount Pressure Pro sensors. The also provide “rubber donuts” that will hold the longer valve stems in place, reducing the chance for problems from movement.

Of course the tires have to be partially dismounted as it is a total replacement of the original valve stem.
