Pressure Pro Sensors
Installing my new Pressure Pro and looking at the sensors I see they will not screw onto my valve stems. My valve stems are not centered in the holes of the Alcoa wheels. Each seem to lack about an 1/8″ of being in the most correct position to get the sensors to screw on.
My options seem to be either install 1″ long valve stem extensions, or slightly tweak each stem. My spidey senses tell me to use the valve stem extensions. I am concerned that the weight of the sensors hanging on the end of the extensions, adding the centrifical force at speed might create too much stress on the stems.
Anyone else experience this? If so, what did you do?

I think Tom has devised a pvc pipe adaptor tool that
allows you to reach into the hole and screw on the sensor without you having to use extentions. -
Borg makes long valve stems that point in the right directions and make it easy to check your tire pressure or mount Pressure Pro sensors. The also provide “rubber donuts” that will hold the longer valve stems in place, reducing the chance for problems from movement.
Of course the tires have to be partially dismounted as it is a total replacement of the original valve stem.

I have the PVC pipe tool to install them. My problem lies in the fact the stems ar not centered in the hole of the Alcoa wheels well enough to install them

Since I just did all new tires and wheels, it was pretty easy to set everything up for the Pressure Pro’s. I use the very short valve stems for the outside dual and straight stems for the inside dual. My inside wheels are steel, so I used the brass straight stem. The 365’s need a short extension because the hole for the stem is very small. I would NOT use extensions of any kind for the inside dual.
Since your trying to install the Pressure Pro’s on existing valve stems, you’ll have to to do some modifications in order to make it all work. You can’t bend the stainless stems, but you can gently bend the brass on the inside dual to line up in the center of the hole. Your Pressure Pro will then easily go on the inside dual using the PVC tool without any type of extension. For the outside drive tire or tag and steer, you may have to have the stems replaced to line up for the Pressure Pros. Here are some photo’s of mine:

Thanks for the heads up Tom. I am installing the sensors on wheels for 315 tires so my stems pass about flush with the larger Alcoa holes.
Ill look tomorrow and see if my stems are brass/stainless. None of them need tweaked much, just enough to get the sensor on and tight.
I beleive my rear inside duals might have extensions on them already as they pass thru a coresponding hole in the outside wheel. There are large rubber “bushings: in the outside wheel that support those extensions. The outside rear duals have their stems pointed inward

If you have extensions on the inside duals, take them off.
They are not needed because a straight tire chuck will reach the short valve stem and then you have no risk of the stem breaking at the bend due to centrifugal force or the extension wearing through where it passes through the rubber grommet.
Or leave them on and risk a failure.

Good advice removing the extensions on inside duals. I screwed the pressure pro sensors on the extensions and it was “binding” against the side of the rim, went back the next day and both inside duals were completely deflated.
Removed both extensions, used Tom’ trusty “pvc tool” and installed the sensors without a problem. Made sure i have both an air guage and air chuck that works without the need for a valve stem extension….
Good advice – surely could have ruined two brand new tires!!!
