while back I had to drain my aquahot to replace the electric heat element. I closed off all the zones before draining. I just filled the system back in the top fill. Then watched the overflow container for a while. Had no problems. The engine preheat might be more difficult. Hope you closed the preheat valves at the engine. I close them when I change the engine coolant. Again have had no problems. The new coils look good. The headhunter will fill the coils. The easy part. All that copper will be hidden so no polishing

Thanks Larry, sorry to say I drained the whole 15 gals and the tank is full after the first 5 gal. I’ll try firing up the aquahot to circulate the fluid thats in there and hopefully I’ll be able to get the rest in.

I had a place here in Clarksville,In ( Stinnett’s Rv) do the recoil , they found a heat transfer mastic that they used. I hope it works it’s a lot less expensive than a new or rebuilt unit.

You could just energize the + terminal on the plug for the main circulation pump and that would move coolant through the system.

Just to let any one interested, replacing the copper coils on you older aquanhot can be done. For under $1k with new copper and thermo mastic, I NOW have hot water. My wife is ecstatic!!!!!!!!
