Ok , I see because I had to put in a new ECM in it because of a non volatile code 53 in October of 2013 and updated it to a DDEC 4 ,But it was the battery inside the ECM that went dead , I could have drove it forever and no problems maybe but when it would have decided to crap out that’s it you are on side off road !!!! It flashed the code 53 on the dash, that’s how I knew about it only did it that once ( flashed the code)

Per, Not to be insulting, but you did “double click” the heat button on the SMX control, right?

    Tim,

That button turns on a pump that helps move the coolant faster from the engine to the heat loop for the dash. Kind of gives you more volume giving you more heat at the heater core.

Hey guys, how about a picture of the sites. We haven’t been there in years because of the sites designed for stage coaches, but I understand this 500 and 600 loop is better.

I am not in a position to tell a resort how to write their rules. It is not my business. But I have a real problem with an unequal application of the rules which is the case here.

In this instance the resort has essentially told Buddy to go away, but it allows owners whose coaches violate the rules to remain in the resort.

I support the decision to not hold a rally there unless and until the resort amends the rules regarding the age of coaches.

As an offset to this issue I am now officially adopting a policy regarding RV resorts that have arbitrary age restrictions for coaches. If a resort has a policy regarding age, and the resort is older than the allowed age I will not stay at the resort. They do not meet my restrictions.

It depends on how Teschner set up your plumbing and someone has to see if there is some way, when the pump runs, that the water supply for filling has some back pressure.

On my coach if the tank fill valve is open while the pump is running there is no “cross” connection. The inflow to the water tank is open to the tank downstream from the fill valve. But the same water supply line ahead of the tank fill valve also is the supply line to the coach water system so the coach plumbing can function on “city” water supply with the pump off. That marriage of the coach plumbing system and the city water supply may influence the water flow to the tank when the pump is running, something I don’t know why that would be.

There is no standard rub rail. It seems each converter had their own made for them.

Try IBP to see if the configuration they offer is a match.

Think you should be able to find a nice bus in that price range…also you would be looking at 03 and earlier shells I guess so you get a non-egr Detroit 12.7 engine…about the best that was ever made for fuel economy and reliabilty.

Everyone else here would probably say I am crazy but I bought the first Prevost I ever looked at…but it was a 40 footer with the towing setup I needed, no slides and price and condition were good. I really did not have many options.

In the end it has worked out well. Try to do as much of the wrenching yourself…and if you are building houses I am sure you will be handy on the house conversion side of things.

Do not overlook a bus with a few miles on it, the ones with super low miles that have sat seem to be more problematic compared to those that get exercised and looked over constantly.

Pulling codes on the engine may be helpful, but if you were really concerned about the engine, then going to Detroit and putting it on the dyno is really the way to get a look at health of the engine, can also pull an oil sample. I would not be too worried about the Allison especially if it has Transynd in it, unless the bus was up around 500k miles.

Finally, while I keep detailed logs on both chassis and house, and my previous owner had good records too we did not have much from the first owner…but when it comes to people who buy a new million $ bus I tend to think that they probably do not skimp on maintenance…they just take it to Prevost or converter and say “do whatever it needs”. So if it all checks out for the most part I would not worry too much

This age of coach issue has been discussed on every RV forum and in every instance it irritates the RV owners, whether they own a Prevost or a Pace Arrow.

I can understand when an RV resort or RV resort owner’s association sets standards. Some are restricted to Class A motor homes. Some will not allow lengths shorter than XX. Some as in this case use age as a standard. I don’t know why they don’t just come out and say they don’t want a 30 year old home built skoolie, or a 20 foot pop up tent camper.

Usually the RV’s they don’t want aren’t going to show up anyway because the prices the RV resorts that have restrictions charge scares people away.

    Dawn,

Are they talking about the cylinder itself or the regulator/actuator in the steering bay? I have done both, replaced the regulator and rebuilt (“O” rings) in the cylinder. The cylinder is a tough job getting it out. Some have to have the entry floor removed to gain access. On my Royale, there were two access holes under the front bumper making access to the mounting hardware accessible.

You need to determine if the problem is the regulator or the cylinder itself..

Before PC my only access to Prevost owners and drivers was in the entertainment area of busing. Those guys recommended that I run non synthetic in the engine and full synthetic in the transmission. They run nearly 100,000 miles per year so I figured they know what they are talking about.

As Jon said some of our buses sit for weeks and months so that may be different for them. I do not run a bunch of miles each year but I do run nearly every week.
