George, I have a friend Arnold, his classic statment about concerns such as yours is “live with it for awhile you’ll learn to like it”.
Good luck!

There is a second answer that Jim is overlooking. Buy Barbie that new bus with a nice green interior.

Chuck,
The coaches listed for sale by private owners time out after 90 days, at which point the ad has to be renewed. Coaches for sale by dealers or converters can theoretically remain for as long as an advertiser is paid up, possbily as long as 1 year, but those are almost always removed as the coach is sold.
Generally speaking phone calls about the coach after the coach is sold is a clue the ad needs to be taken down.
You aren’t going to see any whose last price change was in 2009 as we have seen on some sites. You know those are too old to be still for sale.

Dale,
If Dextron is what you have been using all the years you’ve owned the bus, why not stick with it? I don’t know what you can expect in lower temps if switching to Transynd or other synthetic, maybe 10 degrees. Im repeating myself here again, but at seminar we had at United Engine in OKC a few years back, I asked about switching to Transynd for my 8V 5 speed and they advised against it and said to stick with Dextron. I figure they knew what they were talking about.

I want to see the time out sessions changed so when trying to post a long response or new thread we don’t get bumped back into “guest” status and lose the post into cyberspace when we try to post it.

Another vote for the Shurhold brush/telescoping pole setup.
I’ve been using it for several years now and the soft brush won’t scratch your clear coat.
Only problem I’ve had is getting Janice to wash the bus for me……

That is good advice. For those who have an aging tow bar it is possible it needs repairs or is about to need repairs. If you are uncomfortable doing the work yourself the manufacturers have ways in which you can get them taken care of and rebuilt to factory new condition either at rallies or by sending them to the factory.
If you are comfortable doing the work yourself you can buy kits to rebush the extendible arms and to install new internal parts.
Seeing your toad separate from the coach or watching an arm fail to lock and seeing the toad banging around behind the coach can turn a fun trip into a not so pleasant experience. Take the time to at least give the tow bar a very good inspection to make sure there is no excessive play, to insure no parts are showing signs of wear, and to make sure the locking mechanisms do lock the arms securely. It should like preaching, but a little time spent making sure the tow bar is in good shape will save a lot of grief.

One of the things that comes to mind is of course the different shading under the painted parts. One of the advertisers
here is Almost Chrome.
Maybe they have some experience with the paint removal and polish so all looks the same.

I did use roof hatches several conversions ago. It works! That said I have gone away from roof warts. They are expensive and prove to be very power hungry . Layering of cool air and heat is also a problem with these systems. At least to me. Does your over the road air still work? If so keep it. Do realize in a coach of your age it is very expensive to maintain once it fails in the several thousand dollar range. I do not try once it fails . So I design my Ac load large enough to maintain the coach needs traveling.Note# about 30% large than when parked because of loss to moving air and small vacum leaks. Present In my 45 XLE I am useing two 9000btu minni-split and a 12000 minni split Inverter ac/heat units. The total power load for the three is 19.5 amps which is less than start up load of one roof air and only 4 amps more than running load of 1 roof air. These provide heat (tested by me )down into the teens. My total hvac cost $1450. I think that will be much less than three roof tops and a furnace or aqua hot. But you must run gen set when not attached to the grid or inverter.(2400 watts) to run minni -split .I know that is no extra/a 4000 would do a nice job. Just my way. Bob

My H3-40 is at the service center today getting the front unit checked out. I am sure it will have to be replaced, but I wanted to let them check just to be sure. The compressor runs but the air is not cold!!! Because of the height of my bus, I have the Duotherm Penguins and will have to replace it with that as well. Just the AC unit with no heat strip or heat pump is going to cost around $1300 to buy, install and upgrade the wall thermostat. I can’t see replacing them until they fail for that kind of money!! My center unit has has been replaced at some point, but the bedroom and front are 21 years old!!! I will run the bedroom until it quits cooling and may get a few more years out of it.

What does that mean “oxidize standard fluid fairly soon in high load/heat conditions”.
I just put a new ratiator in and my engine runs at 180-195 but my trans oil temp seems all over and it will get to 230 while running for long periods.
I had looked at the trans filter and it leaking around the seal. I thought it might be getting dirty so it was putting more pressure on the trans. Just guessing though.

I’ve been using the Frequent Fuel card and all that gets me is pump start. Still have to go in, get in line to pay.
Thanks for the info, I’ll be signing up for one of these cards.

Thanks for the pictures. Have had 2 aqua hots and am thankful I’ve never had to go that deep. Does away with the concern about the mixing of fresh water with anti-freeze.

I’ve seen these coil wraps used on lots of things but the best use IMHO is…White Lighting. Not that living in Missouri I would be a expert at that thing.
I can see it now …..Truks White Lighting
