It would take less time to call Liberty than to keep posting. Some reason you can’t or won’t call them?

I looked up the maintenance requirements for your vintage coach and it is silent on wheel hub oil service intervals.

In fact it never mentions them as something to check.

The differential oil change is scheduled for 100,000 miles so maybe that is a good service interval for hub oil service.

Tom: How about two slides and only put them out half the time.

This sounds better he had it reweighed on the same Cat scale and 49,680lbs much better , I guess a scale is only as good as the operator

I refrained making a smartass comment about Jon chasing a marble under the sofa and his familiarity with the bathroom door, especially at his age.

Note to those Prevost owners withOUT a private commode (aka “the toilet room”): You will NOT be able to use the bathroom door method to determine if your coach is level or not.

Art: I believe 47,000# is the maximum weight (actually at the front and back as indicated) of your coach fully loaded. 41,500# seems light to me, but it looks like you have a 40′ coach and we have a 45′ coach. Maybe some 40′ Royale owners will check in and tell us if 41,500# is in the ball park.

When you weighted the coach, were you able to weigh the front and the back at the same time? Or did you have to move the coach to weight the front first and the back second. If you moved the coach during the weighing process that could have impacted the weight, because if the entire surface of where you’re driving the coach isn’t perfectly level as you move the coach to weigh the second axle the center of gravity of the coach could move which will shift weight impacting the weights.

The next time you see a truck stop with a CAT scale (like a Love’s where you can use the PC fuel discount card) swing in, top off fuel, and weigh. Those scales are designed to weigh each axle separately WITHOUT moving the coach.

Then when you know the weights, go to the tire pressure chart for your tire manufacturer (probably/should be online) and you can see the recommended pressures.

Dave, you should call Marathon; they’ll be able to tell you where your galley filter is.

So Dave … was the problem with the PI EMS or the campground breaker? My guess breaker. The breaker was probably old, had been used as a switch too often (which it wasn’t designed to be), and pulling close to 50 amps through it causing it to further weaken as evidenced by the discoloration. I suspect there are 10s thousands of breakers in thousands of campgrounds that are in a similar condition.

We’ve only been in the RV biz for a little over four years, but I’ve already concluded that any campground, RV Park, or RV resort that provides power to its guests that doesn’t someone on staff who is skilled using a DMM and able to safely open a pedestal to check a breaker and replace it with a new one from stock is a poorly run operation.

Jon … if I’m plugged into the campground 50amp pedestal how do I check the volts I’m getting with my DMM? Where do I find a bare or exposed connection to touch the probes from the DMM?

My Cruisair Mid Starboard condenser compressor is bad. All four condensers are the same age 12 years. What is the general opinion. Rebuild the one bad one with a new compressor? Replace it entirely with a new or refurbished by unit from AAP? What is the general oponion of how long the condensers last? Well I likely be looking at the remaining 3 going out as well?

Second question. We live in HOT California and just spent 2 nights in Las Vegas with 106 degree temp outside. With that outside temp should the 4 Cruisair systems be able to bring the temp inside the coach down to the mid to low 70’s? With only 3 running I could only get the temp inside down to the mid 80’s which was pretty much unacceptable. Before this trip I had all the units serviced, ie charged and all filters cleaned so my thought is that they should be performing as designed.

Jon, I know you are a big fan of the Split Cruisair systems Liberty installs and so am I but with me not being able to get the temp down while in Las Vegas I am concerned if there is ever hope of as you have previously said “make it a meat locker inside” ? Is it because my units are 12 years old?

Liam is correct, but what I cannot wrap my brain around is this quest for what seems to be free energy.

While disabling the alternator(s) does in fact free up engine power (remember how I said it still takes power to drive the fans even if they are electric) all if does is postpone when that power will be used.

If to use the fans and alternators as an example the hill is long and steep and it is hot outside the fans are going to be sucking a lot of power from the batteries. When the coach crests the hill and the alternator(s) resume functioning then the batteries will need the alternator(s) to produce a lot of charging current to restore the batteries to a fully charged state. Guess what, that is going to require horsepower to drive the alternator(s) as additional charging current is required.

BTW, on coaches that do not have OTR, but instead are set up to run A/C units through the inverters the exact same thing is happening in that the alternator that charges the house batteries is working very hard to supply power to run the AC units.

Les has a good idea but a more elegant solution is to have the privacy shades made with a white color material facing the windows.

If you wish to loo outside then the sun screens applied to the outside of the front windows also are very effective at minimizing heat into the coach.

    Thanks Jon.

Maybe Monday I’ll see if I can afford a couple from Jeff (ETLC).

Along with all the other work I’m getting done, I should be able to add it to my easy payment plan. (Pay before you get your keys back!)
