One would think the logic would follow that they would break free close to what they were tightened at, but typically nuts and bolts break free much higher than the torque they were tightened at due to the increased friction from corrosion and the mating of the materials over time. I would fear over torquing the nuts with this approach.

Gil is absolutely correct. Silverleaf is a very reputable company, and has been building their products for a long time. They also likely have additional information available that I do not.

I built my product by purchasing the SAE specifications on the communications protocol, and writing the app from scratch. Unfortunately, I do not have any inside knowledge of proprietary communications that may take place on the DDec bus. Just because of Silverleaf’s long history, I would assume (no actual knowledge), that they might have an advantage in this department.

Although very similar in nature, I am not trying to be competitive with Silverleaf. I think my RV Dash fills a different niche than their products. As several have mentioned, the ability to have the co-pilot monitor gauges is a real benefit, relieving the driver of that duty somewhat, and also involving the co-pilot in the driving.

I think the one advantage I do have is the ability to make upgrades very quickly. RV Dash is in verion 1 right now, however in the week since it’s launch on the app store, I have already submitted two updates for review. I’m waiting for Apple to approve the new app right now. Hopefully they will approve it this week. I would expect over time that the application with change as I get even more customer feedback.

This started out as a personal project for me. Something I wanted to do. But it was suggested by some others that the work would be interesting to Prevost owners as a whole, so I’ve made this available. For those who have purchased, I will do my absolute best to make you satisfied with your purchase. For those who want a different solution, I totally understand.

Most of the Trips my Wife and I take require driving 8 plus hours and it’s great when she wants to take the wheel for a while and give me a break. When this happens I am able to monitor all the gauges on the Ipad/RV Dash without quizzing her to read the numbers to me.

Helps keep peace in the family and gives me peace of mind that nothing is out of whack.

I just got my CANpod setup from Ray yesterday. Downloaded the software and was up and running in about 5 minutes. The documentation was easy to understand and follow. I plugged into my bus and it connected right up and worked as advertised. Screens are easy to read, and can be arranged and sized to meet your requirements.

If you are looking for a solution like this, grab it. With the upcoming DDEC code program, this will be a nice addition to anyones coach, and should only get better with time.

I suspect Prevost does not change gear ratios very much if at all, but the answer may lie in the manuals you can access.

I just found out that a previous owner of my coach had Prevost
change out the entire differential on my coach due to gear noise so I
suspect they might not open them up very much. Changing one out has to
be a major PITA.

I was told at the Tampa RV show that whoever makes those lights for Liberty can sell them to others now. But maybe not. The salesman there seemed to think POG might know where to buy them but I don’t belong anymore.

The app should work with any iPad, however, I would highly suggest at least an iPad2, as it is quite a bit faster than the original iPad1. I have not yet tested with an iPad mini, but hope to purchase one soon.

Clifford, thanks for the heads up. I will certainly look to see if that is copyrighted. I don’t have any issue renaming the application. All of the code is 100% mine and was coded from the ground up, with the minor exception of referencing code snippets as reference from Apple examples as needed.

The Glass Dash is GREAT!!! I was fortunate enough to be in early on when Ray was deveoping the app and have been very, very pleased with it. My former Country Coach had the glass dash that was super easy to read but there was always the concern about potential failure. That never happened – however had it occured I was covered with the Glass Dash on the IPad from Ray.

It addition to the above comment I now have a Liberty with the conventional hard to see, read dash from Prevost and the Glass Dash works great on it as well.

I recall you having Link 2000 remotes. They can display actual current consumed. Why not do a 24hr or longer test with actual use? You can do this without using coach. You can simply add microwave, TV and other loads that would typically be used. Also, add some added load for refrigerator door opening and ice maker cycling that will be more often if the coach is actually in use.

I recall 8Ds being in the 160 pound range. If so, going from 8 to 4 batteries would save almost 650 pounds! That leaves a lot of capacity for your favorite beverages.

Thanks Gil. This is exactly what I was looking for. Some “real world” experience with a similar coach and similar Amp Hour needs. Other than maybe a couple hours of TV/Satellite and a few quick bursts with the microwave my primary inverted power needs come from running the three cooling appliances (Refrigerator, Ice Maker and Wine Cooler). These three appliances are tough to estimate their total Amp Hour comsumption as they cycle at different times and durations and at different wattages. Add to this the relative uncertainty as to the efficiency of the old Freedom 25’s.

I am thinking an easy and free test for me would be to drop my current system to just four of my 4D flooded lead acid batteries (about 800Ah) and test the duration I get with “real world” scenario’s. If I get the performance I need then four 8D AGM’s would give me a little extra head room with 1000Ah.

Refrigerator draws about 550 watts and runs about 63% of the time or about 350 Wh.

Wine cooler draws about 200 watts and runs about 63% of the time or about 130 Wh

Ice maker draws less than 100 Wh

TV/Satillite about 200 watts for say four hours = 800 Wh consumed

Microwave 1200 watts for say 5 minutes or 100 Wh consumed

Then you have the 12v needs. I like Gil have converted just about all 12v lighting to LED.

Let’s say we can get things down to 200 Wh for the direct 12v draw outside the inverters (This is a wildcard)

800Ah to start with less approximately 90 Ah consumed by TV/Satellite and Microwave

710Ah remaining drawing down at approximately 76Ah per hour (780Wh = 65Ah / .85 efficiency = 76Ah)

710Ah/76Ah = approximately 9.3 hours of run time on a 800Ah battery bank.

Gil, I think the four 8D AGM’s just might be perfect as you have suggested. Is my math close or fuzzy in any way?

This would save me about 500lbs. as well.

During the late 70’s I bought a some acres in the Napa Valley and grew a few grapes. Soon we were surrounded by so many wine snobs that I opened an s corp under the name of Raught-Gutt Vineyards in jest. We bought wine from the co-op in St. Helena had it bottled under our label which included our wine makers name, Stu Padasso, slogans such as “aged on the truck”, one of our most popular was “Day Glow Red Wine”, followed by” Rae-Jean Beach White Whine”.we even sold “L and G White Wine” (one needs to know the history of the area to understand that one). Whats funny about all of this was that it flew off the shelves in the few stores that carried our brand, we received orders from around the world and countless restaurants to boot. We sold the label to an old hippy in Sonoma in the 80’s but we had a hellava run with crummy co-op wine (where two buck chuck comes from) and even developed a following. Personally I thought most of our stuff tasted like a cross between paint thinner and kerosene yet others would talk about the bouquet, the nose…bla,bla, bla…..At the end of the day there is no accounting for peoples tastes…

Now back to coffee,,,Starbucks? Hey, started in the 70’s by a couple of school teachers in Seattle, sold at Pikes Market forever before it caught on and boy did it catch on! And, yes there are coffee snobs as well.”I’ll have a double de-caf vente carmel mochiata with an extra shot”…huh??? Translation, “I want a large cup of de-caf with milk and sugar in the raw and a splash of espresso to add some caffeine.” So the school teachers did well, not only sold coffee to the unwashed masses but they taught them basic Italian as well, on the public’s nickel! Grevalia…..mail order Swedish roasted stuff that is a year old when you receive it!

And now to the original premise, Black and Decker Coffee makers. Evidently this thing is in plain view whilst sitting on your Ikones lounge….to me its like putting Ketchup (I like that better than catsup) on a Filet Mignon or serving Tott’s Champagne at a cocktail party, something just isn’t quite right. Kind of like life, it all has to do with the size of the bubbles!
