When I was at Marathon in Grand Prairie a couple of months ago one of the Techs had a blind set on a jig they built for repair jobs.

Might check with a good Hunter Douglas home service company. We have HD in our home. They have a tech that is really good.

I had my local Hunter Douglas dealer restring a couple of mine. Only took a day or so after I dropped them off. He said they were warranteed and no charge for the service.

Thanks guys, now the next question is how you get the damn thing out of there? I suppose the motor is built in and will have a quick disconnect for the wiring. Can’t remove the valance, so there must be a trick.

I just had the home service guy come right to the coach. On mine they snap into a bracket; can’t recall exactly how they come out.
I actually had a lot of trouble with mine (multiple string failures) and replaced them all with manual which have held up well. I also find them more convenient than looking for the remote. (JON: You may want to add electric shades to your list of ‘who needs it’)
I also upgraded to shades in the stateroom which can go up from the bottom or down from the top. Privacy and light!

Tom: those strings were always a pain. Had several break. It may be worthwhile to put new manual blinds in. It will save you frustration!

Looks like John is doing what I used to do before I lost my mind and got a non rivet coach with slides, electric shades, awnings, and Crestron.
Wouldn’t trade for the world. It sure is fun to push a button and watch in amazement when what is suposed to happen actually does happen. But my time will come.

Ed – You may be on to something..
John – The gloves are NOW off!

Tom,
I took a couple of our bedroom electric shades out when the strings failed. There was a local Hunter Douglas dealer in Fort Pierce who sent them out and were repaired…. for free! Not even shipping!
However, as you are finding out, the challenge is removing them from the bus. And, mine were not wired with quick connectors.
Good luck!

Thanks Paul… I haven’t tried to remove it yet, but looks like a challenge.

String? I have no clue how mine work. I just push a button and they go up and down. Doesn’t everybody’s?
Same thing with needing more space. I push a button and the whole wall moves out.
Same thing with getting a little shade. I push a button and a big awning opens up.
Want TV? I push a button.
Tee Hee.

See what I’m against folks! This is the same guy 1 year ago that would rather eat bee’s than have a slide, glued skins and auto awnings.
But now the grin never leaves his face…..

It’s a cold cruel world and we have to adapt. I’m so adapted I am starting to look for even more technical challenges like getting a phone with a camera, text capability, an answering machine, and getting rid of the rotary dial.
What ever happened to the signature that says “rivets rule”?
