I just talked to the mechanic and he said he will not know about the starter until 3:00 this afternoon. The guy doing the rebuild is having trouble getting parts. It seems he can get a rebuilt for $6500 but the parts are harder to come by. I’ll keep you posted.

I want my bus back… Ahhhhhh! Sorry, didn’t mean to say that out loud!

BTW, do all 8V92 diesels have 4 batteries like in an 18 wheeler etc?

The gonernor is adjustable Patrick, so you can turn it up at tad if needed. Prevost won’t go beyond 125 psi, but I just spend some time with a Liberty owner that told me Liberty turned his up to 140 psi for more front air bag lift when leveling.

Mmmm???? Sounds like a Marathon thing. I’ve had the same problem for the past 3 years. I had Marathon Florida try to fix the bay open dash light twice to no avail. I also had one of our PC advertisers fix it and I got 500 feet out of their driveway and the “Bay Open” light came on again. And so it stays on.

Part of my pre-departure checklist is to make sure all the bay doors are closed doing the “Prevost Bump” on each side of the door. Then I can drive with peace of mind that the doors are not open as the dash light catches my eye continually down the road.

    Thanks Mr. Mark!

I was at Prevost Jacksonville and they installed the multiplex update. I’ll let you know if the phantom locking sound reoccurs.

Your Detroit S60 should have a check valve on the fuel line comng out of the head of the engine. This will be at the rear of the engine as it is installed in the coach.

Ideally fuel pressure is held in the fuel galley of the engine head from the check valve inthe fuel pump to the check valve on the rear of the head. It would be more reasonable for the check valve to be faulty than the pump.

Do you have a Racor or Fuel Pro filter system on your vehicle? They have a check valve in them also and can cause loss of priome but usually over a longer time period.

Hi Corey, We plan to spend May through September traveling the country, primarily out west. Our plan would be to settle into a park for a week or so and travel to places of interest in our toad. We also have friends, (hey I can have friends) and family around and would visit them. My guess would be 6000 to 8000 miles per year.

It’s a funny thing, I was concerned where I’d find someone to work on the coach in case of a breakdown or any form of maintenance? You guys struck again by providing the answer before I asked it. I read it to my DW and she said “honey, there are busses everywhere, there has to be places to fix them”! My DW, I sure know how to pick em!

    I was reading one of the coach write-ups here on the forum and here’s what it said;

1998 Prevost XL 45′ Parliament Conversion

    $149,9900

Engine: Detroit Series 60 Mileage: 150,000

Upgraded electronics in 2007 so it preforms like a new coach – Pre EGR 12.7L Detroit Series 60 – Best fuel economy and performance of any Prevost on the road – Incredible floorplan with split galley – Recent interior upgrades – New tires and batteries – Priced for quick sale at $149,990. Please contact Ken Robertson at (727) 748-5986 / (888) 571-5755 / ken@parliamentcoach.com or Ben Cummings at (727) 465-4377 / gene@parliamentcoach.com.

Part of it says “Best fuel economy and performance of any Prevost on the road”! What does that mean and how can that be? While we’re on the subject, what mileage is expected on a Prevost of the 96 to 01 era?

Here’s the gally in the coach, I like the dinette and it also has a closed off toilet area that I like.

I also take a picture of the pump with my iphone for a ‘receipt’ once I’m finished.

Nothing is better than pulling in, fueling up and driving off. Heaven.

    Thanks for the program PC!

Sort of makes you pucker to know that a car capable of 180+ MPH (which is connected to the ground with pneumatic tires) uses a TPMS valve made of crack prone plastic.

KT. It is not true that all XLs or XL ll need the floor removed to adjust the valves or the motor slide out , who ever told you that is dead wrong

As far as American Fleet if they would have seen the coach they would have done what was best for you and them so if the shop you took it too did it without taking anything apart or sliding the motor out they would have done the same thing , they do not want to slide the motor out if they can do it in the bus, so to say you saved 3000,00 dollars not taking it to them is wrong you never gave them a chance to see the coach in person

I for one think they are the best in the business period . THEY HAVE MY VOTE. Thanks America Fleet for helping all of us out there you are a real asset.

I know I have to push the reset but….why should you have to have the Inverter energized in parallel with the generator or shore power to have juice in the few outlets that are Inverter controlled ?

Is it possible that CC wired it that way that if you want Microwave to work, you have to have the Inverter ON regardless if the generator is running or you are connected to shore power ? That does not make sense to me from a newer coach understanding but….was it like that in 1990 systems ? Or something is wrong ?

Marius, If the tag axle is dumping air it is likely the leveling system has a logic that requires aux pressure to be maintained above about 35 PSI, or the tag axle air bags will dump air to atmosphere through the three port Norgrens on the frame between the tag and drive axles. That level low system logic was replaced with the current one in the mid 90’s. Prevost had a retrofit designed to update the system, but it cost a while back about $1800.

Rather than concentrating on the Norgrens unless the bus leans over almost immediately the first and best initial course of action is to get the accessory system relatively leak free. When the key is off the Norgrens that control the suspension which are the 3 five port Norgrens should lock air into the air bags. That suggests the accessory air system has leaks that cause a rapid drop in pressure which in turn opens the 3 port valves mentioned above.
