Maybe that’s it, Fred. I read that one as being just for medical situations. It sounds like you’re in a similar position to render assistance. I now have lots of concrete, plug ins, and a shop full of tools. And I’m always willing to provide transport, just like some guy in a VW that had set up shop at ETLC last year. 🙂

I think at one time it might have been aluminum, but that is a guess. Regardless if it is aluminum or steel a proper repair for peeling paint is to strip it and do a correct surface treatment prior to repainting.

Aluminum and steel both have specific surface treatments to prepare the bare metal, and aluminum in particular is a real challenge to get proper adhesion.

I’m speaking from a factory perspective and folks that paint buses and cars may use a different process for pretreatment than what we used.

I, too, like to keep the coach full of fuel after parking, especially, when we are at the house in California.

Since we are prone to earthquakes (expecting the BIG one at anytime) and if my storage garage doesn’t collapse, the ‘Elegant Lady’ will become our escape pod.

230 gallons of diesel will last a long time if we have to be off the grid (balancing battery power and generator).

So many of the new construction building are built to withstand a major quake so we’ll see what happens.

    Safe travels,

Yup. What Jon said in spades! The same thing happened to us last year. I called Prevost one Saturday morning and they walked me through ‘manually’ retracting the slide at an RV park. Not hard to do but the sequence of steps is the key. It seems that stopping the slide early (releasing the button) messed up the retraction process. Once I had the slide back in I ran it a few times with Prevost still on the phone. All worked well. The Prevost tech was great.

I once had pins firing at the wrong time after Jeff installed a new but defective Prevost air block/manifold. Thanks to Jeff’s unwavering dedication to solving a problem and Josh’s rewiring the new part correctly all was well again. Whoever built the block for Prevost had goofed causing a pin to fire through a wooden part, fortunately. John rebuilt the section. What a team!

I’ve never heard of a separate coolant tank when using Webasto, are you sure you don’t have an Aquahot? Even the Aquahot in the early years used just regular coolant. That all changed around 2006 when Auquahot went to Boiler Antifreeze as Rudy noted. Maybe your coach was special ordered.

Have you found 24volt charger relay? With the help of a new friend I found a gray power box with 8 Bosch cuberelays Blinkers-lights-vista lights and there was also 2 large relays that has 12volts coils and 110volt contacts 1 was for on board compressor and 2nd was for 24volt charger and there was a smaller strange type duel relay for both water pumps.

The Motorhome Magazine published towing guide for 2017 says: (2018 not out yet)

“Only four-wheel-drive vehicles equipped with Quadra-Trac II and Quadra-Drive II systems are towable. The transfer case must be shifted into NEUTRAL and the transmission must be in PARK for recreational towing. See owner’s manual for details.”

Does not mention anything about engine size.

The FMCA has their 2018 list out: (Paraphrased)

“JEEP MODEL TRANSMISSION AUTO MANUAL DRIVE CONFIGURATION SPEED/DISTANCE LIMITS APPROX CURB WEIGHT TOTAL LENGTH

Cherokee Four-wheel drive 3,953 lbs., length 182 in.

Grand Cherokee Four-wheel drive 4,625 lbs., length 189.8 in.

Wrangler JK (auto and manual trans) Four-wheel drive 4,075 lbs., length 164.3 in.

Wrangler JK 4-door (auto and manual trans) Four-wheel drive 4,277 lbs., length 184.9 in.

Only four-wheel-drive vehicles with a two-speed power transfer unit can be towed four wheels down; before towing, see an authorized Jeep dealer for the Mopar flat tow wiring kit. It’s recommended to charge the battery of the towed vehicle while towing. Only four-wheel-drive vehicles equipped with Quadra-Trac II/Quadra-Drive II (two-speed transfer case) can be towed four wheels down.”

    No speed limitations.

Andy, you mentioned about towing the 2018 Lincoln Navigator and the FMCA towing guide says YES!

Navigator Four-wheel drive None 5,855 lbs., length 210 in.

Navigator L Four-wheel drive None 6,056 lbs., length 221.9 in.

1 Start the engine and allow it to run for five minutes at the beginning of each day and every six hours thereafter.

2 Disconnect the negative (black) cable from the battery. Start the engine within 15 minutes of reconnecting the battery cable.

3 Start the engine and allow it to run for one minute at the beginning of each day and every six hours thereafter.

4 Must be equipped with 4×4 LOW. Place the transfer case in the neutral position and engage the four-wheel-down towing feature. See owners manual.

    Safe travels,

Scorching issues as shown in the pictures above are typically caused by increased resistance which then heats the connection. A loose or corroded terminal in the plug or the socket is the most likely cause.

Hi Andy, The skid plate should not interfere with the installation. If the Jeep has tow hooks they have to be removed to make room for the left and right side base plates,

What about the place where the bad power came from? Do they have any responsibility for providing a bad power source at Marathon or an RV park?
