Thanks Les, but unless I read the specs incorrectly, the Hemi is matched with a different transmission/drive train and it can’t be flat towed without some major modifications.

And, I must be getting old, but after having a few sports cars over the years, I’m finding value in smooth riding comfortable cars over ones that go zero to 100 in a few seconds that have minimal trunk space. And, Lucy the Dog likes a comfortable backseat!

As a sidebar, with so many cars going electric and more manufacturers expected to go that route over the next few years, it may be difficult finding new cars that can be flat towed. So, even if I get the Grand Cherokee, I’ll keep the Wrangler and have both setup to flat tow. The new Lincoln Navigator looks interesting, but I’m a little guy and don’t need that much space.

They may have done something different for the Trackhawk but for the more sane Grand Cherokee, as long as you got the V8, the transfer case has the true neutral and can be towed 4 down.

Now what I really would like is a Tesla… Elon needs to make it towable and use the regenerative braking to recharge the batteries so that when one arrives at the campground, it is fully charged, ready to go. I prefer the Tesla X with the ludicrous mode.

I bet he could sell at least ten of them!

Ditto what Craig says & no problem with skid plates or the Blue-Ox stuff on our 2018 GC Overland. The GC is much easier to set up to drive after towing than our 2012 Wrangler. Basically just push a button on the GC and you’re off rather than wrestling and busting knuckles with the Wrangler shifter to reengage the transfer case.

Quite possibly I’m incorrect, but I don’t think the Hemi can be setup to flat tow as it’s a different transmission. If that is correct, then the only other engine choice is a 6 cylinder on the Grand Cherokee 4×4.

So, I’ll ask…

I put the Blue Ox Base Plate on my 14 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit.

You have to take the whole front bumper cover off to put on base plate.

Then you or someone has to modify the lower grill to put it back together.

Wasn’t too hard, took me probably a whole day to do. Made small cuts In lower grill to accommodate everything without making it look terrible.

Love the ride of the Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit, V-8, and air ride. Along with all the other features. Full panoramic sunroof!

Ditto on Dana’s comments as 2014 Jeep GC for flat towing with Blue Ox set up has been great. Hemi engine with easy flat towing without disconnecting battery cables or having to start the engine every so many miles…. Wrangler works great as well but not as comfortable…

My understanding is that the Hemi is towable since it has a true neutral transfer case. The V6 does not have the same transfer case and not towable.
