I would get the tire replaced as planned before driving further. The risk is not the need to have a roadside replacement, but the potential damage to the coach if the tire fails catastrophically.

As a second choice I would replace it with a used tire that is the right size or close to the right size.

My last and not so good option would be to inflate it by about 15 PSI over the recomnended pressure and keep speeds down, hold my breath, and pray.

Here is our bus barn operation in KC. We only store diesel pushers. Fully rented 7 years straight.

Building has 8 stalls inside length at 60 feet. Width ranges in each stall is 15 1/2 to 16 feet. Water, electric, sewer in every stall. Bldg is heated with gas overhead heaters on each end. Each stall is private. Bldg. is set far back on lot, entire front staging area is concrete.

If you are considering a new bus barn I can offer you some tips you should consider before you start the project.

Well, I guess since he has lived with it for 10 years, another 10 won’t hurt…

If he is unhappy with the information he recieved here, then nothing will please him. Too bad he thinks he has issues, but if what others say about pulling that hill he mentioned, it seems his isn’t doing too bad…….

    Andre,

I replaced all of the rubber parts in my front end at 120k. The dust covers were the easiest and only took me a couple of days to complete. I replaced the upper and lower A arm bushings which took a week and a number of jacks and blocks, it was not an easy job and as Bill Jensen has said, the center part of all the bushings were still in good shape. That part of the job was unnecessary. Incidentally, Prevost Service replaces the entire A arm when doing this job. One of my upper A arm king pin ball joints was bad due to a clogged zerk fitting, I replaced both of them. The mtc, manual talks about special tools to do this. I did not have any special tools and did not need any. A sledge and a good whallop was needed to get them out. I would not recommend replacing the lower king pin joints because of failed dust covers only. I don’t recall it was particularly difficult but I did sweat getting everything supported so it could be done safely. The dog bone bushings in the sway bars are easy, takes a few hours on each end of the bus if you havent done it before. The main sway bar bushings were squeeking in our bus so I replaced them. It was an easy job, With the dog bones still attached, the sway bar self aligns. Needless to say a front end alignment should follow after doing anything to the steering. I used all 4 of Jon’s jack stands and both of my 20 ton jacks plus another small jack and a number of blocks. Needless to say, be careful, the A arms and sway bar are heavy.

    MM,

Congratulations. I presume you read the fine print on your membership contract that states those who buy a new coach have to send expensive gifts to Tom and I.

I like expensive tools, but money is also OK.

Ditto on Jeff’s non-destructive method. As an alternative the un-pinned end of the bay door handle can be flexed outward slightly allowing you to get a long thin rod into that end. Perhaps a long screwdriver with a fine or small blade.

Use that to push the pin back. You may need to tap it with a hammer because you will be binding the locking pin.

First I have no experience with DD engines.

But I did have a turbo blowup on my Dodge ,Cummins 6.7 two yeaars ago, which dumped all

the oil in the CAC and exhaust system. Dodge dealer replaced all the CAC and exhaust compentents

because of oil contamination. Keeping in mind the truck was a 2011 and had a catalytic converter.

Assume you have to dig out all the silicone, then remove all bolts on the gray and black pipe and out it should come.

Nice to see you here Brian…

My Monaco Exec is the third coach in my life and came after a lot of research and endless conversation with owners of many brands. Those talking about Monaco as their favorite RV maker spoke first of the ride and stability before talking about interior design.

Several years ago Monaco brought a Roadmaster chassis to the Hershey, PA RV show. Just a chassis, with its red Cummins engine, ten air bags and all the rest. It was actually driveable but for legal reasons had to be transported to the show, a very expensive cost for Monaco.

Being able to actually see where the ten air bags were mounted outside the frame and how this would affect stability sold me on the coach.

After driving a Parliament XL recently I could not feel much difference between it and my Monaco. (This Parliament was older and the cabinetry was rattling rather badly)

Nevertheless, I’m bound for a Prevost.

Les Stallings has been a stalwart on the Monaco owner’s group on Yahoo and has been a huge help with owners there in dealing with many of the same issues that affect Prevost drivers. I agree with his remark about not liking being lumped into the “plastic coach” group.

Incidentally, present and former Monaco owners may be grieving at the news that the Roadmaster “S” chassis is about to get a makeover…something in my opinion that is totally unneccessary. The company is modifying the chassis to have Freighliner chassis parts in the front and rear of the coach. I haven’t heard all the technical details, but it doesn’t sound good to me.

Today at the Volusia County Fairgrounds Alliance Coach was trying desparately to unload a 2014 Monaco Dynasty. The bad news was that Cummins was not represented in the engine compartment. The new owners of Monaco switched to Dynamax with less hp than the 515 normally in this coach. The “show price” on this rig was over two hundred thousand bucks less than MSRP.

    Bill,

I really hope you find the problem. I can’t
imagine how bad you want it fixed. Grounds that are not connected or
that provide a partial ground are commonly over looked. Everyone always looks at the power suppy side.

This is what I have. No ideal if it’s good or not. I’ll call the dealer tomorrow and maybe find out which engine this works with.
