Stuck lock on baggage door
1994 Prevost XL Marathon conversion. Ok so all my doors open but one and so far no amount of W-D 40 beating around the door or anything has made the lock budge. The lock cylinder will turn towards the lock position but I cannot get it to turn to unlock. The door in question is not accessible from another side and if I remember correctly is the third door back on the drivers side. I am open to all ideas and have a good mechanical background. Thanks in advance.

on a xl you should be able to see between the bay door and the handle the locking pin. I have used a pick and pocket knife to slide the pin back so the door can open.

If you can’t make it work with Jeff’s idea you can use my solution.
When one of my bay door locks wouldn’t unlock I was advised by Prevost Action Service to simply drill the lock cylinder out. It drilled very easily and the new cylinder was not expensive nor difficult to install. Make sure you give the parts person the lock number shown on your key for a matching lock cylinder.

Ditto on Jeff’s non-destructive method. As an alternative the un-pinned end of the bay door handle can be flexed outward slightly allowing you to get a long thin rod into that end. Perhaps a long screwdriver with a fine or small blade.
Use that to push the pin back. You may need to tap it with a hammer because you will be binding the locking pin.

OK first of all thanks for the ideas. I was trying the pocket knife pick method when I decided that if I was going to have to drill the lock that at least I may as well break the key off in it first so there I was twisting the key with a pair of pliers back and forth with a loving touch hoping for the best but expecting the worst when the tumbler actually started to turn and yes it unlocked! After the door was opened I removed the inner panel to find the door lock actuator was bound up causing the lock to stick , now time for a new lock actuator and possibly another key.
