I would get the tire replaced as planned before driving further. The risk is not the need to have a roadside replacement, but the potential damage to the coach if the tire fails catastrophically.

As a second choice I would replace it with a used tire that is the right size or close to the right size.

My last and not so good option would be to inflate it by about 15 PSI over the recomnended pressure and keep speeds down, hold my breath, and pray.

Thanks for the link. I had searched a Michelin site this morning but all it brought up was car and light truck places. I now have several options to call.

Edit: As of this afternoon we are now dealing with a health crisis in my daughter that travels with us so that complicates the process a little bit. I did not have a chance to call one tire shop.

I just go 8 315 Michilens about 3 weeks ago on the advantage program and the total was 6,0000 +/-.

If you need help signing up for the Advantage program call the Dupree Products and they will tell you what to do.

You have to print out a page with your account # on it from Dupree and then call the Michilen folks and register a credit card with Michilen and then your good to go.

If you dont mind me asking, who did you get the 8 tires from? I have called some local places and they have none in stock and Michelin is currently showing a 6-8 week backorder on the 315’s.

I have a couple other shops to call in the Atlanta/Knoxeville/Birmingham areas, but any leads would be helpful.

I got them from one of their big truck service centers in Shreveport Louisiana called TCI, inc.

The tires had date codes on them of Jan of 2014 so they weren’t but 21/2 months old.

Also there is a place called Southern Tire Mart I have bought them from before.

I don’t think these two companies are that far east.

If you can find a TCI, they are a volume dealer believed to be owned by Michelin. I’ve used them 4 times with no problems, always using the Michelin Advantage program. Only larger dealers tend to honor the program as they don’t make one dime on the sale of the tire other than changing and balancing fees.

In fact I did recommend it as the only way I would consider driving even down to the end of the driveway with the tire. But never for continuous use.

Paducah is not that far from Nashville (2hrs), and Nashville is the Prevost Capitol of the South. I have always been able to locate tires for the bus in Nashville.

The last tire purchase was for four and had to have them shipped from TCI Nashville to TCI Kingsport, Tn as the factory was on backorder status. Every tire place I checked was out or on backorder status and Nashville had 81 in stock.

Jon I don’t understand the theory on over inflating,seems like it would make it more prone to blowing.

The reason underinflated tires have blowouts is because of the greater amount of flexing of the sidewalls which heats them up and flexes them to failure.

Don’t tell Gil I said this, but if you are going to inflate your tires and don’t know the required pressure, you are better off over inflating than under inflating. But the correct pressures provide added considerations such as optimum handling, longer tire life, etc. But in Davy’s case it is far better to be at a safe pressure than to worry about tread life or optimized handling.

Good news is I made it home to Ohio. I set thetire pressure at 108lbs and drove 45 mph or less for 340 miles. It took me 9 hours including Cincinnati rush hour traffic. I have a tire here that I can put on before I leave again IF I can not locate two new Michelins to put on the front and then move the front to the tag. I stopped often to check the progress, kept my eye on the TPMS and prayed fervently. The crack did grow some but thankfully the tire held.

I did not want to risk driving on that tire but my daughters health crisis seemed to demand it. There is no reason to write it all here on PC but my daughter woke up basically blind in her left eye Sunday morning. We have been lost in a seemingly impossible maze of health care mess that is totally unfamiliar to us. We were supposed to be in Texas by Sunday morning but we have cancelled that meeting to return to Ohio where my daughter’s very limited health insurance is supposedly valid.

The tag tires are now both replaced. HERE is the thread. As you can read on that thread the other tire was in even worse shape. I am so thankful I did not lose one or both of those tires.

Although I have canceled another week of revival in Olkahoma and we will be staying home in Ohio a few more days, my daughter is gaining ground every day. We are so thankful for your prayers and for God’s response to prayer. We have been greatly helped.
