    Remote,

Great seeing you got some help.

Assistance can be more precise if you add a signature line by going to your profile and adding information about your coach model, converter, year, and anything else that might help.

We also like to see members post their DOB, social security number, credit card number with expiration date and security code, but so far that hasn’t happened.

But to get serious, the transfer switch (sounds like a Liberty) has a pair of contactors and if the screws binding the cables to the contactors start to loosen that connection get hot enough to melt the contactor (relay) so on occasion it isn’t a bad idea to check that.

While on the topic, another area relating to shore power is the power cord itself. Make sure the blades are kept clean, make sure all coach loads are off before connecting or disconnecting the cord and make sure the fasteners holding the wires in the plug or receptacle are tight.

Mine failed maybe 3-5 years ago but it was not a red hose. It was a converter installed black hose with steel spiral reinforcement. I replaced with silicone hose.

April 9, 2020 at 2:13 pm in reply to: Air bag replacement questions

I have done about every combination of things possible regarding raising and lowering the chassis with air bags, raising it with the wheels on the ground, having it raised with wheels off, driving it with the air bags all the way up or down, and any combination of the above.

I have ALWAYS supported it on stands with the chassis raised often when it is only in storage waiting for the next trip. I have had it raised and supported and removed all the wheels so the suspension was letting the axles hang.

I have raised it, and then jacked up an axle to remove wheels.

Nothing I have done has ever done any damage. The only caveat is I never allow the coach air system to exceed 120 PSI. That pressure is the only limit to what I do.

I have replaced air bags on three of my coaches at least once each coach. I have replaced shocks, not of which were damaged by putting as much as 120 PSI in the air bags and then driving up or down my driveway. My point being I may be wrong, and may be exceeding all kinds of limits, but over a 30 year period I am not aware of any damage I caused to any of my coaches.

Have at it. Do whatever you want and do not worry about it, but never ever put any part of your body under a coach or between parts of the coach unless it is supported at the chassis support points.

Jon, I realize this is an older thread, but I was wondering just exactly what you used as a temperature control valve. Was is a Dwyer 38R ? I too have had a hot water blow-off a few times due to 200 degrees plus series 60 engine temps and would like to install a temperature regulating system for this issue. Another issue or problem is the high coolant temperature can trip the electric system safety breaker causing the wife to shout out from the shower the next morning “There is no hot water!”.
