    Colt,

The node relay boxes usually have up to 5 circuits (1 for each button on a panel) and each has a fuse. They are easily checked by taking the cover off, but can be a PIA trying to find the location of the box itself. Look in the electrical portion of your manual, the node relay locations are there, but again, a PIA to nail down.

One of my plumbing bay nudes is under the sink floor in the bath.

10gb per month is what Liberty offers it’s customers. That is normally fine for us as we never stream video and do not live in the coach other than when on vacation. At home it sits in the garage and we don’t use any internet while it is parked, unless something like an iPad does an update. All we do is email and web browsing and some small file transfers. We have never gone over until the last billing, which they took care of.

The reason the Liberty plan is a keeper is that it gives us a static ip. It is how we get remote access to the bus. This works very well. If we were to switch to a private plan, Verizon charges $5000 for a static ip on a regular account, which is crazy.

We are not data hogs as we are on metered satellite internet at home as there is nothing else available where we live that is any better….no DSL, no cable.

So, as long as they can get a way to monitor the data usage so we know how much we have used, we will be fine.

Note to Andy… Go dry camp, you have one of the best coaches for battery performance, simple 12v systems that likely can go 12 – 14 hours on inverter with minimal 120v loads and still be above 12v when it’s time to start the gen. I had a 2000 CC and it was a dry camping machine. They’ll work out all the bugs for LI replacing AGM in the future and then the time may be right for a change.

Hug your Lifelines, they’ll be good to you.:)

    Here’s my 2 bits for you –

I always go the speed on the yellow caution signs for curves and exits. A lot of the time I know the bus can go faster… but if I do, stuff starts flying around the bus and drawers fly open.

My trucking brother taught me about fattening the lane when passing or getting passed. If you are passing, you ride the yellow line with the drivers side of the bus, if you’re getting passed you ride the white line with your curb side. One thing to be careful of is some stretches of road have a “lip” of asphalt (due to a re-asphalting job) that can grab your tires and pull you off the road. Just have to be aware of that…. it’s not bad, but can be surprising.

You’ll notice that as you approach “most” trucks to pass, they will move to the right part of their lane.

You might be thinking “I don’t feel the need to speed” but I’ve noticed that very few trucks go the speed limit… they always seem to be a few MPH under. I’m not 100% why… I think some trucks are governed and others just know it’s their livelihood so they keep it well under. If I go the speed limit (by the speedo AND my GPS speed) I’m always passing trucks.

And in some idiot states like California – the speed limit for trucks is 55 and it’s 70 for us…. and for cars it’s a free for all. So in essence you have 3 travel speeds in only 2 lanes (I’d go on and on about this but that’s another matter…)

I have also been telling my wife, as she learns to drive, try not to pass while in curves… I find you have to pay attention a bit more in curves so I tell her to just wait till it’s straight. Until you’re more comfortable that is.

I don’t know if it was clear if your bus had a jake or a retarder… but ours has a jake. For a 5% grade, I find I need 5th gear and position 1 for the downhill. For a 6% it’s 4th gear and between 1 and 2. That’ll put me at around 60 mph. Like people said before, don’t be afraid to use the brakes downhill…. just don’t be riding them. You’ll see the grade signs ahead of time so you can get setup for the hill.

Wait – I guess that was 4 bits. Oh well, hope it wasn’t a bore!

Jon, LI batteries maintain a fairly constant voltage until they don’t then they drop like a rock. Go to shop.relionbattery.com click on 12v Lithium-ion Batteries then click on the 12V 260AH battery then at the bottom there is a ” CLICK HERE FOR FULL SPECIFICATION SHEETS ON RELION BATTERY” that will take you to the discharge graph. That curve is fairly typical.

I still have a few questions but it certainly looks a lot more promising than what I first expected. I’ll probably revisit this in about a year. There is still so much for me to learn about the rest of the systems.

I guess we’ve been lucky every time we’ve dealt with DTV. We added the two new receivers on the bus to our home account. To their credit DTV insisted on sending a Tech to the bus at the storage facility. We backed it out of the garage and put up the dish. A couple of glitches and a phone call later the Tech had everthing up and running and on one account.

Refreshing a long idle receiver is a piece of cake at DTV’s website. No phone call needed.

But this AT&T thing is scary. We dropped them long ago. Hopeless service.

Thanks Jon, I didn’t realize the XL was single pane glass. That could b a big deal in a full timer rig…

I like the smothness of the XLII, but something about the XL’s just look nice. But I like the H3 also…lol

    Thanks for some clarification.

    Ron,

The tunnels on I-40 are fine. The section of I-40 through the smokies is twisty with some good climbs. It’s a major route for trucks so won’t be a problem.

I live outside Morristown, NJ if anyone is local enough to come eyeball (or try it for yourselfs – LOL!), I welcome you and my wife makes great cookies.

There is no Google street view of my street/house. The satellite view doesn’t show you anything, either. The neighborhood is all very tall mature trees so Google, the NSA, and Prevost Community can’t see what I’m up to. Ha.

Although there may be some interesting travel with this (potential) new job (e.g., setting up a warehouse somewhere out west), for the most part it won’t be a traveling job. The location out on eastern Long Island is just too far to be commutable (took me four hours to get there one day). Which adds another wrinkle to this dream: where to camp/hookup on Long Island. Any ideas? The farther east the better, let me know. From what I can find, the pickings are slim, particularly for year-round. This looks like one option: http://www.easternlikampground.net/rates.htm but I appreciate feedback if anyone knows if this will/won’t work.

I could park at work, but I don’t think I want to.

Corporate apartment, renting a house, staying in hotels, etc., are all options, I just hope this community appreciates what I am trying to accomplish. I hear some whispers suggesting I’m crazy, maybe I am.

As for the 43′ turning radius spec, I did not find a lot of sources of information for that. I used this: http://www.coachinfo.com/All_About_Buses/Prevost_Info.html

    Thanks everyone,

    Charlie

Many times you can back into a space easier than going in head first.

I finally flipped the breaker back on after 30 plus hours. Voltage at 12.3V.
