Tried to get a little relief with constant water / vapor problem. This seemed to help along with leak repair and less run time.

What would you suggest to make it better ?

To make more than 300 miles a day I Really really need a lumbar support and the ISRI fits my body just right. I just have not been able to have a leak free seat and such a PITA to work on while in the bus.

Your buss bar in the electrical panel is likely split so each of the inverters had their own dedicated circuits. I you go to a single inverter to handle what two handles you might have to run a heavier wire from the single inverter or combine the two wires now used to handle the extra current and you might have to join the two existing inverter powered buss bars.

Failure of hub lubrication has caused devastating bus fires, the most tragic of which occurred during evacuation of elderly and disabled folks in advance of hurricane Rita in 2005. Twenty-three passengers were killed. After that accident the modern fire suppression systems were mandated in buses, as were changes to protect the passenger comparment from fires originating in the wheel wells.

Here’s the address for the NTSB report. You may need to paste this to your browser, or google NTSB hurricane Rita bus accident report. Read this and I guarantee you will pay close attention to your hub lube.

Looks like a bad solenoid. Have good voltage at both sides of the solenoid when the starter button is engaged. Finally resorted to ‘old school shadetree’ and shorted across the poles. The starter spins but won’t engage. Looked up a cutaway and saw that the solenoid also mechanically pushes the starter gear into the starter ring. Going to try to remove the solenoid and see if I can make it go ‘one more time’. If so, this bus aint shutting down til we get back to Tulsa.

Thanks for all the help and making us feel like family.

I am not aware of any Prevost motor home conversion that does not offer a Jake or a retarder. I have had a Jake and a retarder and it is my opinion the retarder offers better braking and is more flexible with 6 levels of braking where the Jake has 2. The retarder may cause some heating issues with the transmission if you do not manage speed or temps, but if you anticipate the needs you can easily descend 6 and 8% grades without touching the brakes and without excessive heat.

A Jake doesn’t require any advance planning and has no consequences relating to its use, but it will not offer the braking force provided by the retarder.

All Prevost coaches, regardless of which engine is used has a turbo. Our coach weighs 53,000, I tow a 6700 pound Hummer H2 and while I am not capable of climbing every hill at the posted speed limit I am not the slowest vehicle up the hill. You can boost HP but if you cannot reject the heat that extra HP creates DDEC is going to derate the engine so the bottom line is when you need it the most you will not have it available. I would far rather have better fuel efficiency than added power because no matter where we live or drive we just are not spending enough time climbing hills to want the additional HP.

As a practical matter you likely have little control of your uphill speed with or without additional HP because it seems to me that when I try to storm up a hill someone is sure to pull out in front of me, and once my momentum is lost I’m stuck at a lower speed.

Most of the new generation drivers could really give a crap, can’t find the flash button and can barely speak english. Besides, they hate you because you’re rich. It’s easy to pick them out, when you flash and they pull back in without the blink, blink thank you, they see you as a PIA RV that can’t backup and can barely hold the steering wheel straight.

Sorry, ole truckers never die, they just fade away, but there are a few of us left.

When I did the month long air leak repair on the AUX Marathon system one of the things Leon at Marathon was pretty firm on was the yellow valve. It is to remain closed.

On later model Marathon it carries a sticker clearly marked…..

Here is a list of the “Right to Carry” states and those where that right does not exist. There is an excellent website where you can click on a state and get the specifics on that particular state.

It is my understand and I know its true in the right to carry states. You are only protected by the “Castle rule” if you are parked and leveled. It is then that you are protected by both state and federal rules. Here’s that website.
