The engine fan/air drive pulley has 3 belt positions, I have 3 spare AX-74 belts, These should be the ones, I am aware of the tension regulator valve above and have released the tension. belt placement is pretty simple on these 3.

On the other hand, I have the Bus A/C & the Generator below it. 2 belt positions on the pulleys. I was told that I need a BX-94 on them? Is that correct? Looking at my spares that Bill had in reserve, I have 2 belts labeled BX-93.

is there a BX-94 And bx93 combination? If so which one sit on the forward pulley position and which is on the aft?

I see that I can adjust the tension via the bolt by the generator housing. I am just really unsure about the BX 93/94 deal.

    any hep is appreciated.

    Al,

Yep Buddy got his papers and we crossed into Canada spent a few days in Vancouver and Victoria… Drove today to Kamloops, BC and had more check engine lights and a repeat of the S 147 VNT vanes not responding-EGR… so talked with Peter Campbell since he knows just about everyone around here and we have decided to hang out in Kamloops until Monday when the local DD dealer opens back up so they can take a look at it. Figure better safe than sorry.

Today is the last day to take advantage of the Florida rates offered during the rally. Tomorrow all rates in the US will bethe same, $500 more than the current Florida rates.

Email me and I’ll send you the application.

    Thanks,

If you can’t find a shut off valve short enough to clear the floor below the aux compressor’s tank consider a 90 degree fitting.

You don’t need to be concerned with compressor heat if you install the check valve at the output of the aux compressor tank, if your aux compressor has a tank. The check valve should be at the output of the aux compressor tank anyway to prevent any leaks in the tank/compressor affecting the aux air fed systems. It your aux compressor has a traditonal air regulator this will purge excess pressure coming from the Prevost or aux compressors without the check valve on the output of the aux compressor tank.

I am actually left handed so all this now makes sense.

And I am in the process of learning high tech stuff. Yesterday I heard the terms HTML and Cat 6 wiring. Now I just have to figure out what that means. Maybe I can look it up on my phone?

When I had new DDEC 4 put in it would not hi idle switch on or off then they went in and changed it then it would hi idle and it worked great on low and hi . Don’t really know if that will help you but that’s what my problem was . Hope that helps Roy . That was on my 1997 Royale last year.

    Red,

Call and talk to Jennifer if you want to give it a try and see if she can accomodate you.

Hey Jon, didn’t we tell her that we didn’t want to be close to Red?

    Jon & Tom,

Let me add my two cents here as well. As you know I haven’t met either of you but both of you were hugely helpful in me making an informed decision on purchasing our bus last December. We are 10 months into the most amazing trip with our kids.. You have connected me to other Marathon Owners like Al and Sid who have been super helpful as well. What you guys have built here at PC is nothing short of amazing in my mind. Even better than driving around in this amazing bus… having the support of you guys and this group has made a huge differnce. Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to make a rally but hopefully that changes… I am in the event production business and know all too well the work and details to pull off a successfull event…. As soon as we are done with this current trip in August, add me to the list of PC members willing to help with rallies big or small. I was at Prevost in Mira Loma Last week and met a couple of newer owners and really talked PC up…

    So thanks for everything !

    DK,

There is space for you at Tampa at the end of this month. So come on down, unless you are in southern Florida already then come on up. Either way it will be a great experience for you to attend.

Oh and while I have the microphone, welcome to PC and let’s get those questions posted!

The dryer doesn’t care if your air system has enough water to swim in.

Your post scared me because if you had enough moisture in the air system to do what you said it is possible you need to start with replacing the dryer cartridge, and then need to find out if your aux system water trap has water in it, and then you need to assess the coach to see where else you have moisture.

One of the most overlooked maintenance items is the air system. Our coaches call for a lube every 6200 miles or so and that is the ideal time to drain the tanks, not only to get out moisture, but to check the various protection valves. If your mechanic doesn’t do that or understand how to check the protection valves by draining the tanks, get a new mechanic.

If you store the coach with the aux compressor on that is almost like hooking the garden hose to the air system. The aux compressor will introduce a lot of moisture to the system and the water trap and aux tank both need frequent checks and draining.

Moisture not only can freeze and mess up the operation of all the valves in your complex air system, but it corrodes valves and at some point screws up the operation of just about everything that is part of the pneumatic system. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Hey Cathy, was that Country Coach a Prevost conversion or one of their traditional coaches? If a Prevost Conversion, what didn’t you like?

Agree, there is just too much thermal mass in the system for the fans to cause temp swings in the 15 second range. Minutes yes, seconds no. Nevertheless, that is what the DDEC temp probe sees.

The only way I can explain the rapid cycling is that the thermostats are actively mixing cooler radiator water with warmer engine block water. As the thermostats open up, the temp drops rapidly which causes the thermostats to restrict flow again, which in turn mixes in hotter engine block water and so on. This could just be the way the system works and the only reason I’m seeing the cycling is because of the 1 second resolution of the VMSpc data stream.

I will check the relays to make sure I have low fan speed operation.

    Thanks for all the ideas,

    Gerald

    Al,

Thanks for sharing all of the pictures. If the Emerald coaches are in Indio, I’ll get to see them maybe next week.

I was wondering why the Prevost converters put such a large piece of material on the center bar of the windshield. Have any of you noticed that it can block from seeing things?

The metal is so thin on the outside but the converters (it appears to me) put a 4 inch piece of material to cover the inside bar. Why cover it at all?
