Seminar Topics
I have found that a significant number of Prevost owners don’t know what they don’t know. I am not being critical or a smart aleck when I say that. Anyone who has read the posts for any length of time quickly learns that between the complexities of the conversion and the chassis it is almost impossible to understand everything.
When Tom and I discuss the content of seminars we are guided by the posts on the forum and the questions asked. If a topic shows up as one that appears to attract a lot of interest and we see it is one that will benefit a number of owners we try to get it on the agenda.
We can address Prevost topics fairly easy because we all have that in common, we can often get Prevost experts to assist us with their excellent seminars, and we have a lot of access to resources on the Prevost web site. What we cannot do a good job of doing however is provide converter specific information without the help of those with experience and knowledge relating to a specific converter. The only way we might be able to get the experts, which are people from the converter is to increase the attendance at our rallies so we can either create converter specific seminars or the converters can interact with owners of specific conversions.
Right now we are attempting to develop the seminar programs for the Lazy Days Spring Break Rally as well as our fall rally in October. So my question is what seminars would you all like? We have limitations so keep that in mind. Also, apart from the seminars I would like all who plan to attend rallies to understand that interacting with other owners is often going to yield as much information as our seminars because a new owner might be able to hook up with a more experienced owner with the same conversion to learn converter specific information. Everyone at rallies becomes a source of information so posting your wishes here regarding our seminar subject content could also alert someone with answers of your need.

Like I said David, depending on the number of conversions of a particular type we may or may not be able to have the individual converters do seminars.
However, again depending on the numbers we may be able to identify more seasoned owners of specific converters to be available to offer assistance or even do a seminar.
That is one of the reasons we really want to get to the point where we have very large numbers of rally goers because the converters will be able to justify the cost to do dedicated service and assistance.

A big difference between my previous motorhomes and the XL is the extensive use of compressed air. I read each posting and Jon’s article but still feel ill-equipped to tackle a leak safari myself.
Please consider a seminar where the air systems are described with common issues and resolutions. We need to understand the solenoids and coils and Norgrens and ALSO the simple stuff (i.e. how to replace a fitting on the end of an existing line in a cramped workspace).

Speaking of Aqua Hot, an expert in Webasto and Auqua Hot maintenance and repair (factory or free-lance) would be a good idea for us to learn from and perhaps have some service performed. If you need a name, let me know.

Keep the ideas coming. This is your rally and we want to make sure we cover as many of your topics as possible.

I double Ditto the Pneumatic system, that would be number 1 IMO.
Other topics:
OTR air maintenance
Radiator/CAC issues, R&R
Prevost Electrical system (chassis)
Cruise Air maintenance
Air bag R&R, suspension system.

If you have a wish for a specific topic to be covered, do not let someone else’s post be the only one that asks for the topic because the seminars are going to be selected based on the amount of interest, so treat your answer as a vote. Vote early, vote often.

I would be interested in topics covering
- using/basic maintenance of the different heating/cooling systems (webasto, OTR air, cruise air)
- proper winterizing process
- service items that can (and should) be handled by owner (air, oil, fuel filters, belts, coolant)
- recommended Detroit diesel star/warming up /shutting down procedures for longevity of engine
- any annual service on roof to keep from leaking (my previous travel trailer was notorious for needing the roof stripped and reseated pretty much all the time to keep it from leaking, so knowing what is, if anything needed on a prevost would be nice)

I’ll add another vote for OTR and cruise air maintenance – what to look for BEFORE they go out of service.
A spare parts list: some are NICE to have, some are REQUIRED – those are the ones that wil stop you on the side of the road – but are easy enough to replace roadside to get going again. Hearing those members who have been unfortunate to experience a full-stop problem and the part(s) that would have got them going again.

Hey this is just a thought but maybe some pointers on which electrical parts historically give trouble and which ones we should carry spares for. just a thought.

Very interested in neumatic systems and OTR maintenance. Looking forward to getting to know the community and hopefully see other American convertions. Our coach was a BIG step from an 89 Classic 345 Airstream. So far very happy and looking to not only to get but hopefully give some good tips!

Thanks for That post raveson I was beginning to think I had the only american built !! We gotta hook up at the rally and complain to each other about how mean those OTHER guys are to us orphans LOL
