Marathon H Rear Door
Any idea of the purpose of this hinged door? Not the camera.

That’s where they use to have the rear camera. It use to pop out but they had too much problems so they eliminated it. Thats how it’s been explaind to me. Now I guess it could be converted to a drain dump for people who tailgate you on the interstate !! I’ll check into that !!

Our last coach being #0586 Matathon H utilized an air activated door for rear camera. Never had issue with it.

I’ve heard of some coaches that have 2 rear view cameras. The one that is always visible is pointed directly behind the coach. The other is pointed down at the trailer hitch.
Now there’s a reason to have a macerator; to support the tailgater eliminator.

I’ve seen many that open as you have noted, but wasn’t aware that there would be a fixed factory camera and a door that does nothing.

This one I can answer… I heard something simiar to SID either problems or wrong angle… so it opens when you go in reverse and there is a flood light to help when backing up.

As most of you know Bill / Lauren plus family have been on the road for over a year on full time adventure In their Marathon 2007 ‘H-45″
They are currently waiting to enter Canada headed to Alaska but have been held back by of all things the dogs (Buddy) entrance papers into Canada.
So Bill, did Buddy get his passport ?

Yep Buddy got his papers and we crossed into Canada spent a few days in Vancouver and Victoria… Drove today to Kamloops, BC and had more check engine lights and a repeat of the S 147 VNT vanes not responding-EGR… so talked with Peter Campbell since he knows just about everyone around here and we have decided to hang out in Kamloops until Monday when the local DD dealer opens back up so they can take a look at it. Figure better safe than sorry.

Tom there must be access from the interior to what ever is behind that door.

Our is the backup camera and I have a switch on the left hand panel to open and close it.

I had major problems with the 147 VNT vanes not responding egr last fall. Have them check your VPOD out. Mine was the cause of all the issues, and it took three rebuilt ones to finally get one that worked. It could be something else, but that was what caused all of my problems.

Tom, thats is the ejection port for the macerator pump while underway!!!!!!!!!!!

Tom, You could do like the moonshiners do around here, They have a door in the floor of the trunk that opens when needed, to spray burnt motor oil on the road, so when the “Fuzz ” is after them they will leave the road on the first curve, hard but its fair had a home and would not stay there! and as others say you could hook to the mazerator, does Marathon have them? if you do that then you would need to consume large amounts of croton oil to get the same effect of burnt oil, This is a holiday, so my brain takes off too! gary
