I would agree, it looks as though the fire started in the engine bay of the truck and spread to the backside of the coach.

The air in main tanks with gauges on the dash are holding air above 100psi for the second day now.

The Aux system that is dually fed by engine compressor when running and the 12V compressor is setup for 45 to 65 psi and is holding air pretty decent. It will drop down to 45 psi in about 5 hours and in about 6 minutes the 12v compressor will build it back up to 65 psi.

I did check with the bubble solution and an Inficon everything I can under the driver. Don’t see anything there.

I will have to look at bags it seems and that R-12 pilot valve. The bags were put new in 2009…..I would hope they are not failing already….

Any thoughts on the reversed air lines ( top and bottom) in the “inversion” valve that the mechanic did in the shop ? Should I get those lines back the way they were before ?

Patrick: Is there room to placard the socket size, the required torque setting, and a warning to NOT use an impact?

An impact wrench should NEVER be used on aluminum or magnesium. If you can’t thread the bolt or nut by hand or with a socket on the end of a screwdriver until is well on … STOP and figure out why.

E-mail turned on! That one sold; as you would expect, Steve said it needed a lot of work.

Yes, the combo washer/dryers suck, I have one now.

While I would rather have a Marathon or Liberty, there is not much to choose from in my options/price range. Remember, I’m only in it for 5 years and the information available on this site should be able to get me by during that time.

Any updates on the seal production? Going to do a rebuild and would like new rubber for the build.

    Jeff,

I do not know. I do know there is a slight open area under the shower pan, about the height of the drain shoe. Hope that helps.

    Tom;

The 2014 Magnum ME-ARC Owner’s Manual says you can run your batteries down to 50% which they say is 10.0 to 11.4 VDC.

Following is a direct quote from Page 21 of the 2014 Magnum ME-ARC Owner’s Manual when talking about where to set the Low Battery Cut Off (LBCO) –

In some applications, such as those in- stalled in an off-grid home or when doing a lot of RV dry-camping, you may want to cycle down to 50%* by setting the LBCO from 10.0 to 11.4 VDC (12-volt models),

Now, I think discharging your batteries to 10.0 – 11.4 VDC is a big mistake. I agree with you and Lifeline and feel that a battery is 50% discharged at 12.11 – 12.18 VDC and you should never discharge your batteries below 12.11 VDC.

Our 2000 XLV didn’t puke and our 2000 H always pukes. I found that pumping on highest volume minimizes it but always get a burp of fuel. I know about how much it will take and stand off about 5 gal from that. A quick swipe with the windshield cleaner and we’re gone. Wipe the area next time we stop. Seems to be a Prevo quirk on more than less of our busses. Geo.

    Hi Roy and Martha,

This is just a question/observation….. do you have a separate battery for your generator? It seems that 11.4 might be too low for the genny to start if it is wired to the chassis batteries.

Of course my knowledge is limited… I learn everyday on this site.

    Safe travels,

    Mark

That kind of failure has nothing to do with towing and would have happened while driving. The good news is that it is repairable.

As George pointed out towing is actually advantageous because if the car and bus were equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system that had temperature reporting the problem would have been identified early.

Hub seals or differential seals can wear out or fail and while most leaks from these seals can be noticed long before the level of differential fluid drops to the point where bearings are at risk a pre-trip inspection that includes looking for leaks is very important.

Another option is to fab a pressure vessel out of pvc tubing. I used six inch diameter tubing with a screw on cap at both ends, put an air chuck on the top cap and a barbed drain fitting on the bottom cap. Fill with oil, screw on top cap, clip on a ten psi shop air line, and let the air push the oil through a tube into the tranny fill neck. So, instead of saying I am lazy, I will say it keeps the blood in my arms better.

This appears to be away from everything except the gen….aqua hot on other side and back, fuel tank is aft…also this appears to be outboard on the coach….would run gen and then shut it down after a period of time…does gen fire right up or does it take multiple attempts…..fuel filters on gen, fuel pump…..fuel line..

Great looking mod – and great video as always.

I wanted a coach that had a floor plan that could handle a bunk retrofit – And I got one. Thing is I don’t want to give up the extra closet space.

Looks like a office mod could be done if you do the reverse (raise the top bunk) -where possibly the lower bunk converts to a desk top – of course you would have to sacrifice the drawers below for at least foot space.
