You do not need either to get a tire balanced. Lead weights and a spin balancer are still how the majority of tires are balanced. However, the Centramatics do a better job over the life of the tire. Beads are also used by some and they report good results. I ran my XLII for over 4 years before I bought Centramatics. I like them so far, and they will be on my next coach as well.

Here is what happens to valve stem extensions, even with the rubber grommet.

That wear was with the grommet in place and it was almost completely through the extension.

Even if it does not wear (it will no matter what anyone says) the extra stress from the added length can eventually cause a fatigue failure of the valve stem where it makes the bend.

Anybody that still uses valve stem extensions has a high risk of loss of air on the inner drive tire.

I thought about a 4 inch grinder with a cut off wheel but after I had given up for the day. I may can get that in there and just grind it off. Was trying to not touch the slack adjuster just because I never have worked with those but I have the adjusting tutorial if I need it.

i’ll also look into a nut splitter. I’m not familiar with those.

Just placed the order for the hoses and I leave on business reevaluate today so I’ll not get back on this job until Friday. I need the rest!

    thanks agin for the support

Got the leak sorted, clamp was on the nipple a bit allowing a small leak, but I replaced that little section of hose anyways and so far so good.

I ended up draining and refilling just about 14 gallons. Not a complete flush but will do until I can get some time do a complete drain, flush and refill this fall.

How do you guys circulate the Webasto? Is there a way without firing it up and just running the circulation pumps?

Does any coolant get circulated when the engine is running through any bits of the Webasto/heat system or just through the plumbing that heats the hot water tanks?

    Tom, thanks!

So on my 02 Marathon I guess its a little different even though my owners manual describes it like you did!

I did not have a push button on the DC panel, but there is a water heater breaker in the a/c breakers below next to dishwasher, washer dryer etc. I switched that off even though I am living full time in the bus, its warm here and I am curious to see how long it keeps some hot water.

This brings up two other questions, I agree the engine heated water is really, hot, if the circ. valves are open it is always free to exchange warm water in either direction?

Second, I noticed I get a small drip, it comes from the overflow, which is a pressure relief valve, it weeps a tiny bit of water, I understand this is normal if the water gets a bit to hot or too much pressure in the tank?

    Dave,

As of two months ago, I found the relays you are looking for on ebay. I have deleted the receipt so I cannot give you the name of the company/person but they were used and not new. They were re-built and worked perfectly. To my knowledge, you cannot by new ones.

    Good luck!

Ah, er Gil, I had 3 plastic CC’s, two Allure’s and a Magna, there is NO comparison. When CC was building Prevosts, you couldn’t even talk to anyone on the plastic side, they didn’t have a clue. I was there and the conversions where a whole different ball game. I think they did a good job, I like the Prevosts and the plastic coaches at the time were the best in the business except for Foretravel. In my opinion the only downdside is the glass dash, both Prevost and plastic. By the way, my Liberty has plain ole 12v rocker switches.

And we are just breaking your chops…..

Greg, you probably have a 12 volt fuse you can pull to disable the aftermarket alarm. I’m sure it is converter specific, but I pulled the fuse from mine because even when it was not armed the motion detectors were a draw on my chassis batteries. I don’t know if pulling the fuse will affect the ignition interlock however. My alarm system doesn’t do anything but make noise.

Al, that little 5.1 shake last night warn’t nuthin. Don’t forget that Indio is only about 20 miles from San Andreas fault.

The quake last night was shallow, so the severe shaking was mostly felt in close proximity to the epicenter. We hardly felt it here in west LA, about 30 miles from epicenter. We got a pretty good jolt last week though, from a 4.7 that was pretty close to home.

We were at ORI during a 5.3 centered near Brawley a few years ago. That made the buses jump, and set off every car alarm in the park.

The suspension of the bus mitigates the shaking, so people in their brick an mortar houses in Indio probably felt it more than you did. I know that I’d rather experince a big quake in my bus than in my house any day.

The good thing about being in your bus is that its’ basically a self-contained lifeboat. If a big quake comes you can just fire up the generator and keep watching TV. We keep our bus stocked up with fuel, water and supplies at all times in case we need an “escape pod” when the city gets slammed by a big one. Hopefully will never need it for that, but its nice to know it’s there.
