Joel, your tire shop is seating the tire bead exactly how it is to be done. Once the bead is seated and sufficient pressure is in the tire to keep it seated (very little is required) it can then be inflated in a cage.

Once a tire is incorrectly mounted and there is “runout” that tire is on a path to destruction and as was pointed out, dramatic steps have to be taken to true the tire back up. At Michelin, in our training, we spent an entire morning dealing with this issue and seeing how easy it is to mount a tire wrong, not only on the wheel, but mounting the wheel on the vehicle to create runout that feels like a balance issue.

It took zero added effort to mount a tire correctly so everything was concentric, and yet the problem seems to be so widespread between tire dealers that Michelin dedicated an entire morning showing how to do it the wrong way, and then how and why to do it the right way.

Chip, if you have issues with ride height switch the center solenoid with any of the others in the five solenoid valve manifold. Just the solenoid is all that is required. Don’t lose the “C” ring.

I am assuming all your solenoids in that stack are 24V. Replace the bad one when you get a chance.

Yes, sent it to SSPD60 in Pennsylvania and had a 600hp tune put on it, also did a newer bigger turbo and had the overhead set while I was at it.

    Jeff:

I have bus air so I only use the CA when stationary. I was thinking of installing a electric fan just behind the front bumper grill that would run when the CA was turned on. Have you done that or have you seen it done?

    Jon,

I’m sure that you can see that this is really a hot button for me. Yes I do have them on my coach and wouldn’t consider being without them. And yes, if that Marathon service guy was working for me, he would be looking for another job within about ten minutes if I found out about this incident.

You’re absolutely correct in all that you say about tire age, pressure and all of the things that go with good preventative maintenance protecting you against a blow out, but there are other things that are completely beyond our control, such as road hazards as in foreign object damage. I’m sure that you remember the Concorde crash in Paris France. The cause was due to a blown tire on take-off which was caused by a piece of metal on the runway that had come from another airplane that had just landed.

I know that I don’t have to tell you this, but the successful outcome of a steering axle blow out has a great deal to do with the tire staying on the wheel.

The Tyron Band assures you that it will. A part of the Tyron guarantee is that they will buy you a new wheel if you have one damaged in a blow out event and they say that they have never had to, as yet, replace one.

I’m not selling Tyron Bands. I have no connection to them, I just know that they work and they are the only thing out there that will do the job.

I don’t really think that the RV market is enough to really be of much importance to the Tyron people. I think that they pretty much have all the business that they really need with the military and public service vehicle contracts.

One last thing. There is an old saying that you may have or haven’t heard.

“If you blow a drive axle tire, you stand a good chance of taking a trip to the body shop. If you blow a steering axle tire, you stand a good chance of taking a trip to the morgue.” And remember, There’s probably most of the time a pretty close family member in the right seat. The seat closest to the big trees on the side of the road.

I think that there’s more to consider here than the installation price.

Thanks for the replies, Tom and Thom. I’m still waiting for my Calyx equipment to arrive for Sprint service. I did just read that AT&T is launching the Inseego MiFi 8000, which is what I ordered for the Sprint service. I assume I’d have to have a separate device for AT&T, but will keep looking into it. My T-Mobile service is still working fine, but recent emails from my provider (4G Antenna Shop) have me thinking I’m likely to lose that plan.

Rudy Legett asked me for more information about the Robertshaw thermostats that were used in Aqua-Hot model 431 heaters prior to serial number 98001.

The underling problem is that the matching thermostats were discontinued by Robertshaw about 10 years ago. They quit offering thermostats with the correct high limit temperature range. The 431 series of heaters were engineered to run at around 190 degrees. The high limit portion of the thermostats currently offered (from memory) have a maximum setting of 160 degrees.

Aqua-Hot had offered a bracket (not sure about current status) that would hold the current type of snap disk thermostats. There was no way that I knew of to hold the bracket tight to the boiler tank without completely disassembling the Aqua-Hot and welding the bracket to the boiler tank.

    Sorry, no good answers.

Shower 2 times per day may be the real clue. I am not sure how many folks shower twice per day but we are not a part of that crowd. Our 165 gallon fresh tank generally lasts 7 days with just the 2 of us showering once a day and not using the washing machine.

3 people showering 2x per day would make 2-3 days about right.

I too saw that, thought it was interesting, however, it reminds me of someone bringing a knife to a gun fight.

Davy, If no lumbar, then hook direct to the height control/regulator. Just save the tee for later when you get the lumbar figured out. Should be a push fitting, if not, add one.

    Good Luck

Jon: Each converter had a traveling field engineer on-staff like you suggested. But they were replaced by the Prevost Community Forum, POG, Gil Johnson, and Joe Camper.

The highly trained and well experienced engineers lost their lucrative jobs. Kids were pulled out of private colleges, luxurious lake homes were sold, retirement accounts were liquidated. It was brutal for them.
