Jeeping in Georgia
As some of you may know, I’m in the process of moving back to NW Georgia from FLORIDA (Bernie refers to FL as the swamp) and we had a chance today to take a breather and go to one of our favorite spots in the GA mountains, Conasauga Lake. It’s only about an hour from where we’re building and of course the Lake access was closed. It’s in the middle of nowhere, surely not a Corona hot spot, but who knows..
Nice to be back in the cool air and thought maybe a positive thread would be good in these crazy times.

Ah yes Driver, your so far north it must feel like an icebox to you.
Glad to see you made it out of the swamp alive. The Better Half must be in heaven, cool mountain air and slides.

Tom, pro and con of Florida and Georgia.

I’m not a Florida guy because heat is my enemy. But on multiple occasions while Tom was living in the swamp he made me aware it was cooler in Florida than it was up here in TN.
Our humidity is so thick at times it feels like we are wearing it.

Tom, where in Northwest GA are you building/relocating too? I’m located in NW GA.

Dmac – We liked Florida in the winter time, summers are brutal you have to leave. We lived in Bradenton years ago, but were younger and heat was no issue. The main reason we left was for kids and grandkids, all within 15 miles of where we’re building. We knew FL wasn’t the end of the line when we moved there almost 4 years ago, but our return to GA was earlier than we planned. It’s hot as hell here in the summer as well, but you can escape pretty easy. We do get the 4 seasons, not like up north, but there are changes, fall is the best time. Yesterday it was 86 in Jasper, on top of that mountain is was 75.

Boy, that’s beautiful country. I flew over that area on my way to North Carolina to deliver my last airplane to her new owner, who in turn handed me the keys to my Prevost. I had to set down in Toccoa for a maintenance issue, and got to spend the night and meet some great people. Georgia ticked up a few notches on my list of favorite states after that trip.

Mary saw Tom’s pics and went …”Ahhhhhhhhh”. She’s from N. Georgia. Years ago we spent many days hiking and backpacking in the Cohutta Wilderness. We slept on rocks in a tent by the Conasauga River, fished, ate freeze dried stuff and drank out of the river. N. Georgia is Gorgeous country. Almost heaven.
Fast forward. Prevost and now Renegade. I’d go back to the old days if my aching body could.
