Joel, I cannot answer your question. I am not sure the signal from the retarder to the relay and hence to the brake lights is position specific. I do know on mine, both coaches, whether I had the first or last retarder position selected the relay would engage the brake lights. I am not aware of the sixth position creating a different signal than any of the other positions and that is what you need.
As an alternative have you considered a switch sensitive to acceleration being used to create a signal to a set of stobe type lights so any hard deceleration would close the circuit, retarder or hard braking, and set off a time delay relay to activate really bright flashing lights for a short time like 5 seconds?
The lights need to be on the toad or trailer to be most effective.

As long as this is about value, but is morphing into a discussion about the value of web sites I hope everyone that owns a Prevost takes advantage of the collected wisdom on forums (any forum) to add to their knowledge of the coach.
I cannot overstate how much I learn from reading posts. That has translated directly into making my knowledge of my coaches significantly greater with the result being my coach has benefitted from what I have learned and I have benefitted by having my knowledge and comfort level increased.
Not everything on any forum is correct. Some advice is off target, mostly because it is very difficult to parse a question and provide the correct answer on the internet. But the information that is correct and shared is often never found in any book and is incredibly valuable. I have shaped my maintenance program as a direct result of my experiences and those of many other forum contributors. I find when someone has a problem it is often common to a lot of our coaches and if it occurs on my coach I know the answer is as near as the search function on the forum.
All of this is to say we don’t realize it directly, but I’ll bet a lot of value added to our coaches has come as a result of the tidbits we pick up on this and other forums. Everything from who to take the coach to for service, to advice on who can replace worn carpets with a wood floor, to where to get tires, to how often to replace shocks and air bags.
Every one who participates on forums adds value because even the newest members who ask the basic questions are making us all think about responses, reminding us of things we learned or need to know. So even if your dues are free, the value of this forum we hope is there and helps you maintain the value of the coach. We make no apologies for collecting a few advertising dollars to help pay for the costs of being here. Last I heard “profit” was not a four letter word.
We just hope that at every opportunity our members tell our advertisers how much they appreciate their support in making PC possible. We have a very high quality group of advertisers and we hope you make them aware of the value of their contribution, both in terms of monetary support, but also the posts some make to add to our knowledge. That’s value.

Have a jake on mine and keep the toggle switch on half so when I back off cruise or throttle, brake lights automaticlly come on and vehicles behind see the lights. As long as that jake is humming they’re on.

AAAAAAH……I’m speechless except, TRUK your 5/50 warranty is expired, the 5 minutes are up and you traveled more than 50 feet. I respect my elders, when I grow up I want to be a car dealer like Roger, you can’t hide money!

Agreed value is easy just after the coach purchase because the purchase price is obviously the value if it was an arm’s length transaction.
After two or three years however the agreed value has to be revisited and usually insurance companies want a value from a qualified appraiser or an expert in the industry.
If you don’t have an agreed value policy you get what the insurance company considers ACV or actual cash value. The problem with that is you do not know what that is until the insurance company decides the coach you just crashed is totaled. It may be a fair price, or not. With agreed value you and the insurance company know exactly how much value you are insuring.

I also had a great experience there a couple of years ago… I see that no one mentioned that Zip Dee’s facility is on the flight path to O’Hare – plan on a plane passing over every minute…. take your ear plugs if you plan to try sleeping.

John, one of the most important things about the CC OTR is the condensors under the coach.
They stay filthy from road grime and will stop up very quickly. I clean mine almost every trip especially if I have been in the rain. That will make the head pressure climb.
My coach is a 98 so we share alot of the same components. The OTR card in the ECC cabinet down in the first bay can give you trouble leading to problems with the compressor malfunctioning.
I had to solder a wire to work around a burnt trace on the back of the card that would send power the the clutch.
The little traces made on the back of the card that go from point A to B were burnt in have just from age I guess.
All has been well now for about three years.

If we end up doing the hanger BBQ, you don’t want to miss Jdub’s ice cream machine.

Has anyone found any G4 LED warm or cool light bulbs that will fit in the very shallow Marathon housings?
Mine are side mount, about 8 thick in the bulb and about 22mm long not counting the two prongs!

Oy. If it wasn’t for the ATV I would say to rent a car when you get there.
Hey, what about renting a trailer to pull the ATV and rent a car if necessary?

Here’s a closer look at the mount James did for the DI tanks. I’m sure Buddy will jump in her if he’s awake and not in the swamp and looking for frogs.

I’m more than scared……I sure hope Coachmen still makes pickup campers. If nothing else I’ll install a set of Lifelines and aluminum wheels on the Studebaker.
