I replaced a leaking R-14 valve this Spring. The symptoms were as you described. It fixed the problem. Let us know how this turns out.

The Royale is different then the Liberty, Yours is in there side to side, If you just want to service it will come out far enough to drain oil and pull fan cover off, If your going to remove Generator that’s different?? Pulling it out just far enough to service it should do that you have exhaust hose fuel line wiring that only goes so far, I have pulled mine out a little further and I do put a floor jack under front to support it. There is a stop on rails so it won’t come out to far.

Batteries and tires will reasonably last five to seven years. You can do the math. This is a start.
From what I see on the list, lots of the things I’ve had replaced either at the beginning of our ownership in 2014 or over time are mentioned.
Any of us could get a “surprise” from a Cruise-Air tomorrow or in five years or maybe (fingers crossed) never.
Being a Liberty I presume it has over the road (OTR)/bus air. For many Liberty owners, the Carrier OTR compressor lasts forever. I had to have ours in about 2016. Its lost its Freon charge a couple of times, and needs a recharge right now.
We had to have our radiator recored (we could have completely replaced it but went the recore route) a few years ago in Kerrville Texas.
Is the Liberty an Elegant Lady (24 volt coach)? With the Allen-Bradley programmable logic control system? We have the A-B system in our coach. In nine years of ownership and three years of shopping prior to that, I have yet to read of any Liberty owner having the A-B system completely fail. The tiny backup battery has to be changed once in a while. I recall a Liberty owner a few years ago reporting their A-B system “quit” in Arizona and they were able to get an A-B programmer to come to the coach and get it going again. The programmer IIRC charged $300 or more per hour, but were very knowledgable. Once in twelve years of watching Prevost. I’ve been told by people who use the A-B system in industrial settings that the A-B systems are bullet proof and tend to last forever. Our coach and A-B system are 24 years old. Is that approaching “forever”? or are we well within the reasonable bounds of “forever”? Only time will tell.
Based on an experience a year or so ago with our coach, I would recommend replacing the DD coolant filter fixture, hoses, and fittings in the engine block and water pump on ANY Prevost over 15-20 years old. Reasonably priced preventative maintenance.

Buy new drums. Turning them is not recommended and they are cheap to buy anyway.

A by-pass or lack of one should not be a deal breaker because once you know the coach there are always means to get power to critical circuits.
A by-pass was rarely on early inverter equipped coaches. Most early coaches had limited inverter size so definitely not all circuits were inverter powered. What needs to be understood is you cannot supply 2 AC electric sources to the same device at the same time because of phase issues, so inverter circuits are separate from generator and shore power circuits.
It is simple to add a by-pass permanently if desired so in the event of an inverter failure all that is needed is to just flip a switch for the by-pass.
Some coaches run everything through inverters, some a few devices, some a lot of devices. It all depends on the vintage and converter. All designs are sound, all have their positives and negatives.

They are a hell of a lot more than Equal or similar balancing media.
If my bus did nt come with Centramatics I would still be using Equal.

I didn’t address it, it just free flows. I could have run it thru the same path as my power wiring and also could have ducted the air but chose not to do either. It would be easy to do with a small pump like Coleman uses. Dometic has a gravity drain kit but I have a long flat run in the ceiling that would need pumping. I’ll just play it by ear and see what happens.

Hello All,
It turns out our problem is in the transmission. We have 178,000 miles on the coach. We ended up taking the coach to Freightliner NW in Coburg, OR. They see our coaches and have trained Allison Transmission techs. They discovered the torque converter was not staying locked up under load. They recommended replacing the transmission. We decided rather than replacing the transmission with a rebuilt unit, we would see if our transmission could be repaired. During the tear down they discovered a damaged bearing race that spewed some metal into the rest of the transmission. They are rebuilding our transmission now. The people at Freightliner have been very helpful and have kept us informed on the progress of our repair/rebuild. We hope it will be completed next week.

O, so sorry to hear the sadness. Our RV dogs are special travelers and ambassadors. Our veteran travelling standard schnauzer will be 16 in august.

What does it run to pull engine? Don’t know how many miles on yours but if I pulled mine I would do most difficult seals to replace and sensors.
