Has anyone been doing any bus projects since we can’t go anywhere in our buses?? We were suppose to go to Florida for the 1st time for April & May for about 6 weeks and it got put on the back burner till hopefully next April. So instead of traveling I have doing maintenance, up grades and just making things better and easier to use.

1st. Brake maint, Rebuild ADB calipers and new pads. 2nd. New rear shocks 3rd. Installed Centramatics wheel balancers on. 4th Re do wet compartment, valves, got rid of crappy hand held shower in wet bay, got rid of blow out for winterizing, bad design, Made it easier to connect city water up to coach without getting water in compartment.Tried to make wet bay tight and rite so no water get spilled in there. Anyone else doing anything??

Doing a lot of catch-up work on my 97 Liberty XL40 including new idler pulley bearings, plumbing, bulbs, various other maintenance. It won’t be a new bus when I’m done but it will be better!

I have had a lot of little projects. Nothing critical, but mostly to address things that annoyed us or that were just not right. We replaced a digital clock that was difficult to see at times with one that has a more visible display for example. There were other minor things I did, including plugging in and leaving the cable routed at the driver’s seat so I can have the Nexiq code reader plugged in and readable at all times.

But the biggie was switching from 12 volt AGM batteries (series and parallel connected) to 12 volt LiFePo4 batteries (series and parallel connected). Then following that we went to AAP and had all our Cruisairs replaced which gave us a real world test of our Li batteries as well as finalizing the renewal of all major bus and house systems and components, a program that has been spread over 2 years.

Upon our return and isolation however I found a series parallel set up on my Li batteries could lead to imbalance problems so the next step was to change the coach over to a 24V parallel battery system with DC to DC 24 to 12V reducers (to provide 12V to the 12V house panel with that work being done by Jeff at ETLC and supported by Relion.

During the process of changing to Li I also sealed the battery compartment and installed a heating system to maintain the batteries at above 40 degrees F.

In the middle of that work I ran various tests on the batteries to get a comparison between LiFePo4 and AGM. The increased available power despite a 400 pound weight reduction is amazing and made all the effort involved worth it. I spent a lot of money and put in a lot of time but the bus is almost new again.

“had all our Cruisairs replaced” … I’m literally speechless.

Larry, compression fitting coming out of the aux tank drain was loose, one of the push in fittings on one of the gen air bags was leaking, the worst was up in the passenger footrest. On my vintage H there is an air activated footrest that swings out of the dash in front of the passenger, mine has been plugged off, but the push in style plug was leaking alot. Compression fitting and pipe cap fixed that. The last is a tiny leak in the pocket door air cylinder for the WC, with the door open it’ll leak just a smidge, door closed—not at all. So for now we’ll live with it that way until I can kit the cylinder.

The big one was replacing the entry door glass with 3/8 solid pane safety glass. And replacing the lock cylinder.

Replaced the halogen punk lights over the bed with dimable LED goose necks, now maybe I can read a paragraph before I fall asleep.

Relocated the Pulse FX receiver. I was having problems with the FX bluetooth dropping my phone by the drivers seat.

Come to think of it those were all done before the lockdowns. Man, now I feel lazy.

We are hitting the road next week to NC for a few days before the heat gets really bad.

Jeff pulled Aqua Hot first of April. It is at the factory being rebuilt, had to wait for them to reopen. So sometime soon we will have it re-installed.

Monday coach goes to American Fleet for the Jake to be rebuilt, going to do valves while the engine is out. Last summer I had intermittent Jake function in the Rockies.

Anything else that should be done while the engine is pulled out?

What does it run to pull engine? Don’t know how many miles on yours but if I pulled mine I would do most difficult seals to replace and sensors.
