I’ve very recently begun looking at a Vantare H3-45 that has basement air. Has there been any updates on the serviceability of the basement air? Are parts available or do most people retrofit cruise-airs?

I suggest planning 3 routes. A direct route, southern angling north route as discussed in previous posts, and your southern to east coast route. Then let the weather decide which route makes the best sense for you at the time of travel.

Make sure your bus is ready for winter before leaving home. Ensure the air system is dry to prevent frozen brakes and begin using anti-gel fuel treatment before turning north. Liquid diesel fuel is life in the winter.

Hope you have a great trip!

    Alex,

Running the bottom still needs attention in Jan. I would run out 10 to the split 180 miles into TX and if weather is good take 20 into Ft Worth then take south bypass around Dallas and back on 20 into Atlanta and from there you can figure out your northern route.

Or stay on 10 at the split and go see Rudy and get 85 out of Mobile, Al up tp ATL.

Your cutting off major miles angling up northeast like this instead of boxing yourself into Florida and making a left turn to go north.

Any interstate you run is gonna have choppy patches I would just go about my business and not worry about it.

    Later

Thanks Bob & Dick! I appreciate the comments.
Ok I changed the governor Bob and as luck would have it I never got a chance to see if the governor was the problem. The norgren valve on passenger side between drive axle and trailing axle started leaking air. Prevost doesn’t have one and Norgren took my order but has no clue when they will have one. Had plans for a trip during the holidays but that has been busted. If you have suggestions please send them and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Checked CB’s 19, 20, 21 … all three gave me 12.1volts on both sides. I presume those CBs are not tripped and OK. Does the red light go on when the breaker trips?

Ran the codes from the dash:

    RED flashing–

    25-No codes

    YELLOW flashing–

16-Coolant Level Sensor (CLS) Voltage High

    46-Low Battery Voltage

    43-Low Coolant

    44-Oil or Coolant High Temperature

Does this mean no “red codes”, only “yellow codes”?

How do we know if the codes are current or old?

There are so many factors that determine the life of the air dryer the safest way to make sure it is doing its job is to pick an interval based on miles or time that works and stick to it. Good filters with life remaining will be discarded, but the items easily affected my moisture will be safe.

As miles accumulate or oil passes the element into the wet tank the interval needs to be changed or the compressor replaced.

Most owners however fail to insure the shitty air / water separator for the aux compressor is a serious entry point for moisture into the accessory tank.

You are correct, you need a connection to a battery for the alternator to work. Instead of using the victron charger, have you looked at the Wakespeed WS500 alternator regulator? Search on youtube for “Camp Prevost”, where he has installed one of these. I intend to go the same route when I do my lithium conversion.

Check underneath wiring, When they removed your AC’s maybe they forgot to connect the Blue wire,That sends 12v to heat be it a furnace or Aqua Hot, It send 12v to heat source,a furnace it activates it on a older Aqua Hot the 12v goes to 3 cube relays that changes a 12v signal to a negative signal. After 2003 newer Aqua Hot units with control boards the 12v signal turns it on. You have a cube relay for each zone Bedroom/Bathroom/living room. Here is a Royale wiring schematic for your model and year. See 4 cube relays extra one for Bay Heat, Those cubes are right near Aqua Hot same compartment

Probably the most unusual place I’ve taken the Prevost and trailer was into the then Shopko Hall at the Resch Center in Green Bay. The facility is across the street from Lambeau Field and we dry camped parked overnight in the Lambeau parking lot. This was March of 2016. We were at a three day car show supporting the Dick Trickle Memorial Project with the Schneider National race car.

Try any place that makes double pane windows with screens. Those parts are not likely to be unique to Prevost converters as all they do is keep the screen in place and not rattling.

    Mike,

Sorry i somehow missed your post in June asking about my exhaust repairs. I only replaced the 5″ turbo exhaust pipe and the 2- 3″ down pipes from the wye to the maniflolds. I didnt do anything with the muffler as it seems solid for now. Everything went fine except for that i am not thrilled with the v-band clamps that i used. The old ones had 3/8″ bolts and the new ones are only 1/4″ Jeff

    Andrew:

There are two side of the following fix (do it – don’t do it). Make your own decision.

The drain valves on the small ping tanks for the air bags are Notorious for leaking, some people (including myself) have removed the drain valves and replaced them with a plug.

The thinking is, you only check/drain the ping tanks once a year so just pull the plug once a year and not fight the possibility of a leaking valve all the time. Make sure your system is dry and not full of or making moisture if you are considering going this route.

    Chuck
