I’ll add a small detail often over looked by many leak chasers….use a thick soapy spray.
Finding leaks with soapy water requires some patience. Spray your suspected fittings then walk away…..in 15 minutes take a look. Often, you’ll be amazed finding a mountain of suds around threads or line connection.

Okay, I see what is going on here. I didn’t realize that the 12v output on the equalizer could be used to charge the house 12v battery bank. I saw all of the diagrams where that 12v output went to the middle of two 12v batteries wired in series for the 24v chassis electric. Of course I have 12v circuits in this old gal! So this setup allows me to charge the house batteries (and power my inverter) when the coach’s engine is running without firing up the generator. That will certainly come in handy. I still need to determine the cause of 24+ volts on the 12v output, but the problem seems more manageable now. Here’s the section I had overlooked in the Vanner manual:

Thanks for prompting me to think through it.

In the recent case where Harry was throwing a code and had limited speed none of the service providers would have had a clue.

Here’s a stupid question. You bought the bus in Austin and drove it 1100 miles to NC straight through except to stop for fuel…your bus went into limp mode and sut you down to 15 MPH. how long does it take to drive 1100 miles at 15 mph? lol
congrats on the fine ride

Sorry wrong assumption. Did stupid thing, flew to Dallas spent day doing all the final checkout. Marathon was working on another problem so it was 6:00 and we had to leave for Tucson. When it didn’t go in , was told had been working, etc, cleaned it, pulled it out then hooked extension to it.. Forced it by hand back up to close door. Haven’t repulled it all the way out, figured that was disaster until it was somewhere they could fix it.
thanks

Glen, you should realize when someone buys their first Prevost and then drives it 1100 miles non-stop to home the entire trip is done with what we call a “shit eating grin”.
There is no way that grin can be easily removed so all of us that have been afflicted with the grin know it will be at least two weeks before his facial expressions can return to normal.

Well, Jon is up to his old tricks.
He set up a ladder, wash bucket, sponge and soap by my bus, but he only washed the love bugs off of the windshield.
Jon, buddy, you have about 40 more feet to go on each side. I’ll be keeping my eye out for you.

On our bus, inside the gray box over the engine, Marathon mounted a board directly infront of that specific relay. It’s been pulled two years with zero issues.

Beautiful coach. Really like the interior. Hope you have many smilin’ miles!!

We’ll post pics of the different seals involved, as well.

I may be wrong, but in truck service or commercial bus service extended idling is not nearly the problem motor home conversions create. We all know truckers do not willingly shut down because the engine is their source for heat and AC, but also provides white noise as they try to sleep in rest areas, truck stops or along the shoulder of the interstate ramps.
But then they get up and drive hard under load and “boil” out the fuel that has found its way into their oil.
We drive from point A to point B, shut down for a few days while we attend a rally, and then repeat the process on the return trip home possibly not running long or hard enough to get the fuel boiled out of the oil.
As to idling the engine, I don’t like to do it and it has nothing to do with the laws, or to prevent fuel from washing down my cylinder walls. I just dislike the noise. I prefer not to have the engine working next to my ears when I do my toad hookup or a pre-trip inspection unless I need the warm up time.
Ideally the needle should start to move on the temp gauge prior to hard acceleration or highway speeds but the truth is once I get even a little engine heat I am ready to go and take the acceleration a little easy until the temps come up.

Our friend has an HWH slide on their 2000 Featherlite, and it does not have air seals. He had an issue with the slide not working, and it turned out to be the electric motor powering the hydraulic pump. Being handy, he removed the motor and took it to a motor repair shop in Ft Worth. They found a bad ground, repaired it (for about $15), and he reinstalled the motor. Works like a charm since.

Tried to use my card at a NAPA in Ft. Lauderdale. The counter man, fresh out of the School For Arrogance and Condescension” declined the card and said it was only good a NAPA service centers. Very discouraging.
