power cord won’t retract
Well we picked up the new ride yesterday, nice except the power cord won’t retract. Hard to travel with the trap door open! Can hear the motor(s) turning so not fuse or motor, just doesn’t seem to grab and wrap the hose. We pulled it all the way out and cleaned it, spent hour hand and push getting it back in, doesn’t really move either direction much now.
Question, does anybody know who makes the device Marathon uses, (05) and who would service it? Hoping it is the same as one of the high end plastic coaches so I could get it fixed locally. Just made the 1000 mile trip home from Dallas. Can’t go anywhere with the new toy until that gets fixed. It is the one that is like a cone, not a reel like my Magna was.any help or thoughts appreciated.

I’m assuming since you picked it up yesterday it worked and you may have over extended it today.
You say all power to it is good so you need to open the cover to your plumbing bay.
The bottom of the top flap has a slide lock to open the top flap up and you can see in.
We need to start there, you should be able to see the cord reel.

Mine did the same thing a couple of years ago. The Pivot Gear had a stripped tooth. Replacement Kit was needed.
Glendinning Part # CM-7 should do the trick ($2500).

Sorry wrong assumption. Did stupid thing, flew to Dallas spent day doing all the final checkout. Marathon was working on another problem so it was 6:00 and we had to leave for Tucson. When it didn’t go in , was told had been working, etc, cleaned it, pulled it out then hooked extension to it.. Forced it by hand back up to close door. Haven’t repulled it all the way out, figured that was disaster until it was somewhere they could fix it.

thanks for the info. Is this something any big RV service place can do? Is it a nightmare having to remove tons of stuff to get at it?

A good shop will be able to do it. I did mine myself, just have to remove the complete assy. to replace the gear set. A little tough to get it out due to the lack of space, but it’s pretty straight forward for someone with a little mechanical experience.

Your about to make two mistakes in two days. I wouldn’t let anyone pull my plumbing bay apart unless they had bus experience. When you get the flaps for the bay open it is tight quarters and contacts and relays that power your sewer house, door flap, light’s, auto fill, auto dump and much more. These are fused off the water makeup bay. If a mechanic touches were he doesn’t belong he will blow something and then good luck.
Tucson for being a resort destination is probably one of the worst areas to get something done and if you can get in it’s 2 weeks.
Mike is more inclined to do this himself because he understands the system.
Taylor Tours in Anthem, AZ is a couple hours from you and they understand. If you don’t know how to get your flaps open and get in there for a possible look for a quick fix go to Taylor.

I totally agree with Bernie. I have used Taylor Tours and have great luck with them. Their Head service guy Chris used to work for Marathon. He knows them well!
