Blake. You will need to buy a relay without a resistor for non rectified power. Napa PC discount was about $26 bucks

Olympia is an advertiser on PC. Tom and I have visited with Austin and there is one thing Austin said that is very revealing.

He indicated when he has an opportunity to buy a coach for resale he does a detailed pre-purchase inspection with as much attention to detail as possible. His reasoning is on target. He wants to avoid any coach with issues because once he owns the coach he is responsible for those repairs and he does not want his customers to be who finds the problems.

Leaving afternoon of April 30th…hope to make the @2,700 mile drive in 4-days. Do a walk-thru of the Villa and lot on May 6th and close on the 7th.

Will you all still be there? Would love to see you before you head out, if possible.

While it’s a hugely boring drive, I-10 is the right route. There have been dramatic improvements of the road over the years. It used to be nearly undriveable but that’s been a many years. Remember as you get around New Orleans you take I-12 as the direct route and that returns to I-10 on the other side.

I-10 is definitely the most direct. However, we find it very boring once you pass San Antonio. The almost 900 miles of Texas seems forever before you leave Texas. We prefer to turn north at Marianna, Fl on I10 up through Birmingham to Memphis where we hit I 40 to California. This route is more scenic and enjoyable to us. Definitely further. We are normally heading to Santa Barbara. If I were taking this route heading to Indio I would turn south at Flagstaff to Phoenix then take 10 to Indio.

The readers I find are Nexiq, found on ebay and I try to find one that has the card or cartridge for my appropriate DDEC version. I have paid as low as $500 and as high as $1000. My current reader has DDEC V software, but also has software to diagnose my ABS and my transmission so that one was a lucky find.

Readers can be a hand held dedicated reader or software to allow the use of a laptop. My preference is the hand held reader because I can drive with it plugged in and with it next to me read faults or other data easily. The cord is long enough it will reach the passenger seat where my wife can read data for me.

The converter or model of conversion doesn’t matter because this is a chassis reader. Prevost has plugs for the reader under the dash near the key, or under the rear electrical box in the engine area.

I like the reader, not only because it does a good job of defining a fault, but it can be used to read almost any value needed from the engine. I can read temps, pressures, voltages and any other information and get information I need to determine how every thing is doing or to compare to the dash gauges.

The values the reader shows are the same values DDEC is using to detect faults. There are aftermarket devices that can display DDEC information also which gives you a lot of options on how to get detail needed to evaluate your engine.

These are just examples. The second link shows ABS as well as DDEC III and DDEC IV.

There is just something really wrong when something in your pants is beeping to report a malfunction.

I am unable to even comprehend all of the things new phones can do, but I did have a conversation with a member’s wife who advised me her husband had left her for his phone. She indicated he set it on vibrate and he fell in love with the phone.

That’s just wrong, like almost all the other stuff people are using the phone to do.

You might be correct, but you gave me free dues for life many years ago in response to something I said in defense of you. I saved the thread somewhere, but it might take me a few years to find it.

Thank you, Joe. I appreciate your help. I will take a closer look with the information you have given me. Is there a thread with pictures of any of this? I am not sure that my skill set matches this task.

I may not get to this until Monday.

Edit: Let me add this. The bolt lock turns perfectly in both directions without hesitation when turning the thumb knob on the inside. The only problem is trying to turn it with the key. I need to get this cylinder to the locksmith.

My comment had 2 purposes. One was to steer the conversation from politics to something more practical. The second was to say that a lot of weird stuff is going on these days and these things can happen to all of us. To become a prepper I think you have to buy food from Glenn Beck. Im looking into the rules right now.

What does it cost and how many miles of toll roads are needed to be driven to offset the cost?

I have some rather strong opinions about how we can be very competitive on a global scale if do a few things. First we need to get the MBA geniuses who think they can build their products cheaper offshore to have an attitude adjustment. If graduate schools are teaching the lazy way to run a business that might be one option. But in reality our business executives and managers have to dig in and build companies that can be competitive. It means everyone from the floor sweeper to the chairman has to work towards that objective, but it can be done. Most companies allow the employees to check their brains at the door, but the greatest asset Jamestown Advanced has is the collective brain power of its skilled employees. Can you imagine providing every production worker having a phone at his workstation, being allowed to order his own tools and shop supplies when needed without asking for permission, and most importantly having a factory that is about 4 acres under roof to not have a single superintendent, foreman, or manager in the entire plant? Each team or individual manages their own work areas and activities.

But the second change we have to make is if we are so benevolent as to pass laws and regulations designed to protect employees, the environment, and to provide financial safety nets we need to recognize we should not bypass those regulations by shipping our business offshore. What that means is we don’t give a damn about workers or the environment in other countries.

So if we as a society believe those regulations imposed on our businesses are morally justified, then impose the same regulations on imports. Forbid the importation of any goods or services not produced to the same standards imposed on domestic businesses.

This country is very capable, but we do not need to inhibit our businesses.

We travel for work and change addresses a lot. We have used premium mail forwarding at the USPS. After the initial setup, it’s less than $25/ week.

But they forward everything, packages also, once a week usually Wednesday.

Been doing it this way for 11 years.

Just need to call in to hold the mail if you’re moving around and to let them know the next address.

On two prevosts owned , traveling east coast to west coast and south, I’ve always ran near max tire press. At every stop I shoot tire temps with thermal gun. To date never had an issue.
