Damn that Tom
On the road for the first time since novnov. this my daughter’s version of today’s adventure…
Once upon A time, we set for Disney world excited that all felt well from their c-19 vaccine. The day began with a busted water pipe at the house. No worries says Joe. A plumber can fix it after we get home. Let’s get Daytona today and eat some fried shrimp for dinner.
So, off we set on a merry journey towards I-95. A brief stop at the SC/GA state line for lunch and we notice a beeping noise coming from the dashboard. Strange everyone says. All gauges normal, says Joe. Onward we go. As we pick up speed, the beeping stops. Even stranger. I-95 turns into a parking lot, not once, not twice but four or five times. Each time we come to a slow roll, the beeping begins again. Not strange now, but starting to get aggravating. How odd we all say.
2 hours past our ETAETA, we arrive in DaytonaDaytona. The bus gets parked. The beeping starts again. This time, it seems louder and more intensive. There is a slight pause between each beep, similar to a chirping fire alarm. Joe goes on a tear to find the device that is causing the beep. Mom and I search fruitlessly on the Google to no avail. We can only find references to a tag axle alarm or the fire alarm in the engine. Since this has been going on for four hours, we clearly not burning up. Joe insists that it’s not the tag axel. He dons two screw drivers and starts unscrewing panels. Outside panels come off. The Power is off. The beep continues on its merry way. He can’t squeeze under the dash board without taking the drivers seats out, so I am recruited to take a look around the see what I can see. I see nothing that is recognizable to my untrained eye and give my report. It is not appreciated. Wiring diagrams are analyzed and scrutinized to find the link to the beep.
The dashboard comes off next but, too many wires and no buzzer to be found. Giving up all hope, Joe say ‘find the 800 provost number’. We are put on hold, as many people are having difficulties today apparently. The young lady cannot help us. She transfers us to the tech team. He says ina very confused way…..a 93 provost only has 2 Alarms. Go to the back and try turning off the power. Mom and I stay inside. The beeping stops. Excited beyond belief we holler ‘it stopped’ as it begins again when Joe comes back on board. Huh, we say. The tech man puts us on hold as he’s befuddled. Joe goes back in the back end of the bus. The beeping stops again. Hey, we holler from the inside, it stopped. No didn’t says Joe. It’s loud out here……..
is it something on your phone, Joe? We ask. Now aggregated to the bitter end , he yanks his phone out and see the the tire pressure monitoring system app is pitching all out fit because it has lost communication with a tire. App closed. The blessed beeping stops. Three hours later we are now hollering at the hold song on the prevost number to save the man on the line from finding the elusive beeping.
we made it Daytona, but we did not get that fried shrimp. However it was a happy ending because there no more beeping.
it’s Tom fault.
