We have taken our grandchildren on several trips and enjoyed each one thoroughly! The 3 eldest are 4, 7 and 9. The baby is only 14 months so she has yet to go along without mommy and daddy:) Took the 4 yr old, who was 3 at the time, to Lexington, to the harness races last fall and she was totally no problem at all. Had all 3 of the older ones at an FMCA rally in Elkhart, IN last spring and again fantastic experience. The wife is really good with them and I think that is what makes it all work, as I can concentrate on driving safely without concern that the children are in harms way. We love taking them and can hardly wait until the little one is ready to go. I would say go for it!

For added safety while putting on tire chains on the side of the highway during ski trips, I installed some amber emergency vehicle strobes near the roofline of a previous motorhome I owned. These were controlled by a dedicated switch at the dash. I was told that emergency vehicle strobes like those are not legal for private vehicles in California, but the only thing I ever heard from CHP was compliments. Wiring my present bus with similar strobes would be much more difficult, so being a lazy guy, I just got two large magnetic LED flashers that run on batteries. I stick them high on the back of the bus for chaining up and remove them when travelling.

Wouldn’t be able to see any lights on an H, no louvers to look through
Looks cool on the XLII though

CoPilot truck is the highest rated app in most industry polls. As far as stand alone units, I prefer Rand McNally while my DH prefers the Garmin; both do a good job. We specialize in over dimensional shipments and navigating is my main job.
The Rand McNally Motor Carriers Atlas is a great tool in addition to any GPS. It has the ‘National Network’ roads highlighted in orange as previously mentioned and it also has a list of low clearances in the front. We have never been checked for length in our motorhome, but I’ve heard of race toters being checked for overall length from time to time in GA and on the west coast. The length laws for different types and combinations of vehicles are listed for each state for wandering off the national network.

I have used Co-Pilot the last year. Jeff’s right, you can put in your height but there is no where to put your weight. It has been 99% accurate; however, it is a GPS, so we always use the Rand McNally Delux Motor Carriers’ (Truckers’) Road Atlas in planning our routes.
That ensures the weights are not an issue since Trucker’s routes must hold loads of 80,000 lbs. Any truckers are certainly welcome to correct me if this is not correct. The Atlas points out State-by-State all height restrictions and prohibited roads.

Also check that you did not bend the microswitch that turns on the light by accident.

Motors were purchased and installed by Marathon. As far as the recommendation of ice and hosing down the coach came from upper management at Marathon Oregon – no joke. They said that this has been a problem for a long time and it does not happen to every coach with these awnings. Even though the ambient temperature is 105 degrees, the temperature of the metal and fiberglass could be 130+. Donald thinks it may be a thermal safety switch within the awning motor.
This will never happen to a Liberty as they have rose petals to keep the motors cool 😉

Do you have any DC loads that do not go thru the DC distribution panel. ie maybe the aux air compressor, webasto and such. On my coach I tied in the aux air compressor to the chassis battery and 3 days later I could not start the coach. I change that, but I do notice that the converter ( Beaver) tied the Commnad Center and webasto directly to the house batteries with the DC Distribution panel and off and on switches. So after the batteries have been solved I would follow the cables from the batteries to the Distribution panels. You never know what the previous owner did and Jon pointed out. You problem may not be in the VAC side.

Thanks everyone and when I get back to the coach I will call Troy for instructions. Will let you know how it comes out.

We had a great time. Never been to an auto auction before, so I learned a lot on this rally. Made new friends, saw a lot of real nice cars. Got to tease Tom about Nancy’s 2 slide coach that she despertly wants. Had a lot of great food all provided by some extermly nice caterers. Listen to some good music, did I mention we had a good time. By the way, even the wife had a good time.
A few of our members left with a vehicle they did not arrive with. Maybe they will post pictures when they get home.

Hello Tony, we live near you. Hope to meet you some time.
I use Direct because I am a big NFL Fan and I find they are the best in that area. Also, the fee is minimal if you have Direct in your home also.
Hope to to meet you on he road sometime.
